Also, the last film underperformed and one of the stars died, so we're probably lucky we're even getting a final film.
I remember at the time though they signed on for four films. I didn’t know the last one under performed. I remember seeing it in theaters and it was crowded when I went during the week! that’s a bummer though and yeah, I remember them saying they weren’t going to recast Anton’s character out of respect.
I am probably not going to watch the final season of Discovery airing right now. There has to be at least one of you guys in here that can keep us up to date if something interesting happens lol
I’ve been watching, the season is based around tracking down the technology behind the TNG episode where they find out all humanoid species were engineered by a species they called The Progenitors. So far it’s been, well, a Discovery season
Star Trek might be the only franchise where the showrunner saying "we want less filler episodes" pisses the fan base off lol
There’s honestly an argument to be made “filler episodes” comprised the vast majority of the pre-00s shows, except DS9. There’s very little continuous plot in any of them
I heard Discovery brought back the Breen Interesting. One of the most mysterious villain factions of the 80's/90's show era. A lot to explore with them.
And when DS9 did do filler episodes they were some of the best episodes in star trek history. Far Beyond The Stars, Past Tense, Trials and Tribble-ations
This isn’t Star Trek related, but Patrick Stewart gave a very beautiful speech about domestic violence and what causes he works for, I had to share it. A brave fan asks Patrick Stewart a question he doesn't usually get and is given a beautiful answer
I started Discovery awhile ago and got through season 1 then dropped it. Decided to make it through season 2 because it might give deeper background to SNW and the upcoming Section 31 movie. We'll see how it goes from there. I've seen a few far future era Disc and it um very wasn't good to say the least Getting through the entire thing would be tough to watch through but the Trek completionist in me feels like I need to watch the entire series. Also there is that Starfleet Academy series that'll be tied to Disc as well
Even though I never watched the later seasons of Discovery, it wasn't because I didn't like it. I really enjoyed the first two seasons, and I find it interesting that there are so many negative takes in here.
I am on Discovery 2x10 and here lays the problem with DIS in a nutshell. They have this interesting looking background character for a season and a half that gets almost no lines and they give no backstory to, the one episode where they get maybe 60 seconds of backstory is the same episode they die in the end, and then the next episode the characters spend more time eulogizing that character than the series spent telling who the hell they even were or what their deal was.
At the end of Discovery season 2 in my attempt to get through this by the time the series ends. So they were originally planning on sending Control through space/time where it would evolve into the Borg, but they scrapped the idea right? Because it really feels like that was their intention.
A quick Google search indicates a lot of news sites thought that's where they were going too, but per this interview they never intended that to be the case. INTERVIEW: Diving Into STAR TREK: DISCOVERY's Finale with Season 3 Co-Showrunner Michelle Paradise Edit: Now that I'm reminding myself of what happened, I remember I also thought the same thing when I watched it. Specifically that line uttered, "struggle is pointless", being so close to "resistance is futile".
Also Burnham and Ash have like negative chemistry. Thank god that romance doesn't last the entire series.
Best part of Discovery season 2 was at the very end when Pike and Enterprise go off to do adventures in a much better show.
Took a break from Discovery and watched TNG 6x20 The Chase, since that ties into the current final season of Discovery. I might also re-watch TNG 3x15 Yesterday's Enterprise, since that supposedly is going to tie into the upcoming Section 31 movie.
I watched all of Discovery except this latest season. I might wait until the season is done to binge it.
Speaking of Discovery, bringing it back to this to say the new season has started to take a fairly deep dive into one of the less fully explored old Trek species (spoiler tagging because it’s fairly central to a couple of the bigger reveals so far) The Breen
Yeah I heard that. One of the reasons I am trying to push through the series to see what that is all about.
