Watched the season finale of Picard yesterday. Some thoughts. Borg joining the Federation is very weird. Don't know what to think about that. I just knew Wesley and Travelers would show up at some point that was pretty cool. Curious what this Mysterious new trans warp conduit is going to lead to in the final season. All and all not a big fan of the meat of this season, but the landing was pretty good and i'm interested in season 3.
Just finished the first SNW episode and love it. I’m so excited for the season. I like Discovery, but episodic format is good too.
Did Akiva Goldsman find his wheelhouse? Or are we just grading him on the mother of all curves because it's the first Star Trek episode in a while that actually had a beginning, middle, and end?
I mean sort of. The pilot essentially had the most basic Star Trek plot imaginable, but i kind of feel like for this concept it needed that. I'll hold out full judgment until later episodes, but i'll say it's very refreshing that it seems this series is getting back to the basics of Star Trek.
SNW is 2 for 2 with banger episodes. This is so well written and smart. Can already tell Young Uhura is going to be one of my favorite characters. She is fantastic.
As soon as I saw ep2 started with a prank and a dinner with the captain I was pumped. That's the kind of relative mundanity missing from other modern star trek
Yep, episode two was great. And I’m probably in the minority, but I really enjoyed the Picard season finale. I can see why the Wesley reveal could be a “cop out”, but it’s a cool call back from his character arc. I always wanted to see more of the Travelers. Yeah yeah yeah, the Universe was saved with the power of friendship. But it was an interesting change to the Borg. Star Trek is all about diplomacy, so i don’t hate that the Borg now only assimilate the willing.
Always love a good "mysterious alien disease effects the crew" Trek episode. Shades of "The Naked Time".
Also again Trek going full on with the Khan/Eugenics Wars lore lately. First the stuff in the Picard finale with big lore implications, then two references in SNW so far in the first 3 episodes along with a new character tied to that lore. That's gotta be leading to something, a prequel spinoff series I hope.
Went back and watched that Enterprise episode about the Aenor because of Hemmer in SNW. Man i do kind of hate the redesign of Andorians in new Star Trek.
Been getting into Voyager for the first time. Tom Paris gives off major creep vibes. Neelix is like the Jar Jar of Star Trek, so irritating. The Doctor is my favorite character so far.
I admit there’s quite a few duds, but it’s still a great show with great characters and some of my favorite ST episodes. Neelix really grew on me and Seven of Nine has amazing character development. Janeway is one of my favorite captains.
Hugely unpopular opinion but Voyager miiiiight be my favorite series. By the end of the show I basically liked the whole main cast, and Year from Hell is my all-time favorite Star Trek episode.
Yeah, that’s an awesome episode. Do you know about the kickstarter for the documentary on the series? There’s a trailer for it.
One thing I really miss in Star Trek? Holodeck episodes. Currently watching the Voyager episode where the Doctor has to save the other crew from the malfunctioning Beowulf program. God i love these so much.
Some of the best TNG eps as well. I suppose holodecks don't exist for the SNW crew but based on how that's started I bet they'll give us something to scratch that itch somehow eventually
