Bump for Picard season 2 on Thursday. I know a lot didn't like season 1 but i'm looking forward to the return of John de Lancie as Q. Also holding on to my theory that we're getting a surprise Ben Sisko/The Emissary return this season. In my mind there is absolutely no way we're not eventually getting a shot of Picard, Sisko, and Janeway standing together in this show.

Also Strange New Worlds coming in May, which i'll give a shot to.

I’m excited for all the new shows. A Sisko appearance hasn’t even crossed my mind though.
Did you watch Prodigy? Janeway was in it. Are you watching Discovery?

Pretty excited for Strange New Worlds, since that crew was possibly my favorite part of Discovery so far. Current season may be changing that though, this is the first one that hasn’t felt scattered to me.

I watched the first episode of Prodigy and didn't interest me, maybe i'll finish it another time.

I watched the first two seasons of Discovery awhile ago. The past week i've been making my way through season 3.

The past two years i've been very slowly and gradually making my way through DS9. Finally on the latter few episodes of season 7. Man these last stretch of episodes are so fire. Every single subplot from Dukat/Winn Pah-Wraith stuff, Sisko finally coming to terms with his destiny as The Emissary, Odo/female founder virus stuff, Bashir/Section 31 stuff, Bashir/Ezri romance, Cardassians turning on the Dominion, ect are all just incredible.

DS9 really is a serialized space opera in the world of Star Trek. It’s the least “Trek” out of them all, but possibly my favorite.

Also pilot of season 2 of Picard was alright. Rewatched "All Good Things.." after, and I appreciate the callbacks to that in the episode.

old post but seeing this for the first time.

This is cool. If they're making biopics of legendary golden age of TV science fiction showrunners whose worldviews were shaped by the horrific trauma they experienced in WW2, I hope they do a Rod Serling one eventually too.

Yeah it looks pretty great. I think I heard it's episodic too i think?

Yep. I assume they’ll go on a different mission every week, like TOS.

  15. DS9 is easily my favorite Star Trek show and it's honestly one of the best non-cable TV dramas of all time, if not the best

and it's crazy how it's beloved by it's own pocket of Trek fans, but you can't bring it up to even some casual TOS and TNG Star Trek fans without them getting lost. I'm glad it's getting more popular now, but man i still think it deserves more recognition.

I once had a conversation with friends about "Best Star Trek villains" and they were talking about the Borg. I mentioned that I think Dukat is the best written Trek villain ever and they were like "Dukat? who is that?".

Also DS9's opening credits anymore without thinking about that old tweet that said "Nana Visitor sounds like a left wing shitposters twitter handle. Like Grandma Appreciator"

I hope this alternate dystopian universe storyline doesn't last the entire season. i was hoping it was going to end after the first episode and just be a one episode plot. Not digging it TBH.

I grew up with TNG and DS9 and I'm a big fan of both. The more I think about any potential differences between them, the more I think I actually don't understand it.

Like, I used to think the reasons people don't get into DS9 is because it's more political and more serialized than the previous shows, which is technically true, but TNG didn't shy away from political context nor from any ongoing plotlines in the background.

There were all kinds of recurring characters that required you to at least remember episodes from seasons ago to follow along with what was happening. In a way, that's almost worse than the more serialized nature of DS9. It's one thing to follow a plotline through a season. It's another to have to remember a plot point from three years ago.

    I dunno. People be weird.

I’m actually really enjoying this season of Picard so far. I’ve always liked the episodes that deal with time travel so right now this is shaping up to be up my alley

Confirmed today in casting news that young Kirk played by Paul Wesley is going to be in Strange New Worlds season 2.

Finally just finished my very very slow gradual 2 year binge of DS9. I don't think i ever felt more connected to an ensemble of characters in a television show ever.

This is the perfect Star Trek show.

This is the reason I think DS9 has been gaining more popularity in the streaming era.
