also you’re giving most of the stans too much credit if you think they read any part of the review outside of the score
That was my take. I read it and felt it was incomplete. Almost like someone realized there wasn’t something written on the album so it needed to be done.
Down and Out Downtown is a cool song. the guitars sound really sick. my favorite of the four songs I've heard from this cycle so far ehhhhh on the title track. interesting but not really my thing Live in the Dream is too long and quite boring this album is a lot more...languid than I expected. Somebody Like Me is a very pretty song. it's almost out of place?
This could have been a really great EP: Pay Your Way in Pain Down and Out Downtown Down Somebody Like Me ...At The Holiday Party these are actually really great songs, ones I definitely feel like I'll be returning to. the rest I'd be fine never hearing again
Doubt it’ll ever become my favorite record of hers, but it’s a worthy addition to her catalog and gives us some flavors that she hasn’t. I’m a fan. The middle stretch through the end of this is really good
Took a little while for me to wrap my head around it, but I can finally say I like this. Like it a lot.
I'm surprised you guys aren't more positive on this, I'm really liking it a lot. I think I'm already more into it as a whole than I was Masseduction
I agree...and these types of albums usually turn out to be the ones I enjoy the most and get the most relistens from me
Has she talked at all about the strong Indian music influence all over this? I'm curious if there's any personal connection to the music and artists she is taking influence from, or if it's just another case of a white artist appropriating another culture's music because it "sounds cool"
Fall tour just announced. I'm absolutely shocked that she's doing the Hollywood Bowl. Wouldn't have thought she could come close to selling that out. And why no NYC date??
