had to turn this off pretty early in, just extremely not my thing at all. felt similarly about the last one.
i’m not huge on masseduction at all jack can make good music with other people but that doesn’t mean this pairing is good. different musicians collaborate differently.
Not entirely sure what this means but St. Vincent shares enhanced version of 'Daddy's Home' and newspaper
I didn't get into Masseduction at all despite trying the various versions, but this one is more up my alley. At times, I even feel it harkens back to her pre-S/T sounds more, and somewhat reminds me of why I fell in love with her music in the first place. The more psychedelic or bluesy songs will have to grow on me as those aren't styles I'm huge on though, but my first impressions were positive nevertheless.
the songs on this i enjoy are the ones that inexplicably escape the 70s kitsch stuff and sound like the early StV albums (pre-S/T, as you say).
I really enjoy both versions of Masseduction, but this album just bores me. I'm definitely glad I waited on buying a copy, because now I can save money.
This is a nice album. It’s probably my least favorite of hers....but not really a critique. Far more chill and laid back than I was expecting, it’s druggy. I like it. Back section is my favorite. It’s clearly a personal record for her, but that almost makes it very impersonal for everyone else. I don’t really connect with it on that level (yet). curious to see what P4K gives it. No way they pan it when she’s headlining Saturday night of the festival. Guessing 7.5-7.9
Went down a rabbit hole of old live videos and my god, i don’t know if I’ve ever seen a cooler person on tv than her in this performance: When she kicks that clip across the stage, i get goosebumps.
i agree. the dissonance between posting “pitchfork clearly has it out for annie” the day after they name her the headliner of their festival, though, is pretty wild
