Damn what if that was about her dad

that song is most definitely about her dad right? "but when you see him wave through double glaze"

anyways "Surgeon" is her best song

This is shaping up to be probably my least favorite thing she has done, unfortunately. I adored MASSEDUCTION and pretty much everything before it.

    1. Strange Mercy (I mean “Cruel” alone...)
    2. MASSEDUCTION
    3. Actor
    4. Marry Me
    5. Self Titled

“Krokodil” is also such an incredible song too, would have loved for her to explore that abrasive sound more.

Not my favorite sound or songs from St. Vincent, but these new tracks are still fantastic.

Down has reignited my excitement for this record.

song is fine enough, but as a trio these really are hitting me as "nice" but far from "wow"

2/3 so far for me. Wasn't into Melting, but the other two are good.

I always loved that Grot was essentially a sludge song.

  15. all the songs are ok. it’s not an aesthetic that really does much for me in general. Down has some tasty licks tho

    Hmmm

Not feeling much of this album on first album, feels like her first big swing and miss for me. I'm hoping subsequent listens changes that for me.

"Somebody Like Me" is the obvious standout for me, great song.

lmao "Live in the Dream" is literally "Us and Them" by Pink Floyd

what is she doing on this album, man

Yeah, Somebody Like Me is a nice tune. My Baby is really solid as well

There’s a version of this album I would absolutely love, but most of this is just washing over me. Love the sound and the aesthetic, but the songs just aren’t there for me. Melting of the Sun and My Baby rule though.

There’s two songs i like, and the interludes are kinda cool. A lot of this is not at all enjoyable to me.

Also, took a look at pitchfork for the first time in awhile to see their coverage of this today, and it turns out that they instead chose to cover the Black Keys (in 2021?) and didn’t even mention this album in their “6 albums out today you should listen to” section. This, to me, represents a cratering in her core base of support. Lol
