I enjoyed the heck out of this show. I didn't care for the 11/16 side story, but I did like the detective boat stuff. Glad it ended at 3 and didn't drag it out more.
Wow. Truly awful. Im utterly shocked at how awful. Nothing landed. The subplots added absolutely nothing to the show. I considered turning it off even with 30minutes left because I just didn't care what happened next. The games were great in s3 but that's it. The characters they ended with lol I'm like really? This is who we want to end with? A bunch of goons and that one baby daddy bad dude? Eh?
I'm sure I'll feel similarly in the end as I'm not too keen on the direction everything is headed but I just finished ep 4 and have (so far) enjoyed these episodes infinitely more than "season 2"
I definitely agree on the way the finale ended and the non-game subplots. I enjoyed the game parts a whole lot though, and didn't mind how the game itself ended.
Eh, I think baby stuff is a super fucking lame easy way to get viewers to feel sympathy. Hated that route. Felt the same about 28 Years. Dumb.
Having a super serious protagonist have to take care of and protect a baby/child is kind of a trope now. Feels like it's in everything recently.
I just wish we had more of a confrontation between the detective boat dude and the Front Man, versus him just pressing a button to destroy the place and dippin' outta there.
Nobody saw the VIPs either, would have hoped at least 456 or someone would see them through the 1-way glass or something.
Kinda wild looking back on season 2 knowing the only surviving official player to make it out alive is a guy I barely even remember
Like in what way, even 1%, was Seongs journey even remotely satisfying or cathartic in anyways. No true good convo or showdown with front man...just front man being shocked Seong won't cut the throats of 6 people as they sleep as if that was dramatic. It takes him.2 seasons to realize....what? Some people are bad, some people are good? Accomplishes nothing other than saving a baby he just met, which is noble, but not worth wasting a 3 season character arch on And in the end thats what hurt the show....they didn't really know how to treat Seong. Just a goofy nice guy with no good ideas lol And then forcing us to follow detective boring and guard lady (not doing good character development on them at all)
I just can’t find the desire to start the final season, which sucks because I would’ve finished it if they didn’t split the seasons up
Can't say I disagree with domo. There was zero point to any of it but I didn't hate watching season 3. Season 2 was just long and boring. Should have been one combined season and 10 episodes total at most. The last 20 minutes were very bad.
English speaking parts in Asian language film/tv are usually very bad even in great projects I think it has to do with actors having to enunciate English in an overly clear unnatural way for the Korean domestic audiences. It's especially clear when you're watching the dub version and the Korean characters are speaking English in a more natural way than the undubbed characters actually speaking English. Look at Joint Security Area from Park Chan-Wook. One of the greatest Korean films of all time, but the English language speaking parts are straight up terrible.
Yeah, I was like "Why are these English-speaking actors speaking this strange way, enunciating everything so hard?" It was like they were being dubbed over, even though the sound we were hearing were from those actors on the screen.
Hate-watched this in full hoping for closure after not being a fan of S2. The pacing again kills me and pretty frustrating outcomes even if it's legitimate for the villains to come out on top, and also very legitimate for bad things to happen without purpose or achieving revenge. but I don't think almost any of it landed for me.
Btw unpopular opinion but im actually totally okay with American squid games. After s2/s3 being disappointing im okay with letting someone else give it a shot. Can't be worse
Damn, this would’ve been so much better. Don’t know what they were thinking with the ending they went with
Regarding The Challenge. The last episode of the first batch of episodes (EP 4) felt so scripted to me. After they did the merry go round x amount of times, and then they all decide they're done playing? And all end up in pairs? Seemed very staged.
