How am I supposed to send you Balkan new wave with Cyrillic song titles if you aren’t on Spotify though, there’s basically no way to then search for it on AM :crylaugh:

I toyed with going Apple Music for a minute but there were some things I didn't like about the interface that are compounded because I would be using the Windows version and there were some things missing on Apple Music that I can get on Spotify.

The nail in the coffin was being able to write a Python script that can create a playlist of everything a band has on Spotify in chronological order by just typing a command in PowerShell, something that wouldn't be possible with Apple. Sadly, a Spotify user I remain.

edit: okay I did find it, but only when I searched just “scarlet” in artists and found them 28 rows down because I knew what their promo image looked like

  4. From an independent musician point of view, my band got 5k more plays on Spotify this year than on Apple Music. The other platforms, we get even less attention. On Spotify, we get added to playlists, people discover us, I can tag our music in Instagram posts, etc. That's why I just stay on Spotify, personally. All giant corps are corrupt anyway, so might as well stick with the one that helps me out the most?

Long overdue they added albums. Haim dominated my 2025. I reckon Better Days would have claimed the top spot or at least challenged it if it wasn't a later in the year release. Similar to "From Zero" which came out late 2024, now in the top albums for 2025.

  8. Per usual, there are some correct things about mine and some extremely odd things that make no sense. Cross referencing with last.fm, my supposed third top song is a song I’ve only listened to twice this year, fourth top album is actually my 103rd top, and fifth top artist is actually my 127th top. Kind of baffling how off some of their tech is! Look forward to the proper year in review from Last.fm in January

Wondering what the best possible (Within reason) listening situation would be for a plsityf premium member pushing the boundary. Would anyone here know if Lossless streaming from the tv to a DAC/Receiver combo could be top tier listening Quality? Would it be better to download lossless and hook it up via aux? Wondering where it peaks/caps out in sound quality threshhold and at what point do i need to upgrade ton a higher wuality streaming/data holding hq music sitch.

    The rivalry is back on

While I don’t particularly care about Gov Ball, I really like this thing they pushed out that recommends artists on the lineup based on your listening history

in general, if music platforms are gonna pretend that AI capabilities make their platforms better, more stuff like this where it’s a recommendation engine that can actually constrain itself to a very specific context (ie. specific festival lineups, playing in your city in the next month, etc) and then tailor its output to your listening history is strongly preferred to the mostly unconstrained AI slop in their current Beta

I'm still trying to get off Spotify but I haven't yet. Tried their AI playlist creation feature last night and it did better than I expected, though I don't think I'll give it a go again. Was just expecting it to fall on it's face, to be honest.

I’m late, but instead of using the TV, you’d probably be better off getting a streamer (WiiM Mini is cheap and good) and hooking that up to an amp with a solid DAC or an external DAC

Not seeing the “new”’tab anymore which shows all the recent music that dropped in one page? IMG_3637.png

They discontinued it in favour of keeping it stored in the “Music tab on the homescreen. Hit that a then “following”. Same for Podcasts. I don’t love it.

So Claude now accepts Spotify as an official connector.

“The Spotify connector essentially lets Claude act as a hands-free, conversational interface to your Spotify account. Here’s what it unlocks:

    Playback Control

You can control music playback — start, pause, skip — and manage your Spotify queue all through natural language in the chat. Instead of switching apps, you just tell Claude what you want.
    Mood- and Context-Aware Playlists

This is the most compelling use case. Claude can understand the “why” behind your music request, not just the “what” — considering your activity, time of day, and implied mood to deliver a more relevant experience. This shifts your interaction from giving direct orders to having a conversation with a helpful assistant that anticipates your needs. So you can say things like “make me a 40-minute playlist for a treadmill run at a fast pace” and Claude will actually build and queue it.

    Playlist Management

You can have Claude add songs or podcasts to playlists, change playlist details like name or privacy settings, and keep your music organized.

    Library Checks & Discovery

Claude can check if specific tracks, albums, shows, or audiobooks are already saved in your Spotify library, so you never add duplicates. You can also ask it to search for artists, albums, or tracks and get detailed info back.

    Example

For treadmill runs, you could say something like: “Build me a 40-minute high-energy playlist, nothing under 150 BPM, heavy on hip-hop and electronic — save it as ‘Run Playlist’ and start playing it.” Claude would handle the search, playlist creation, and playback in one go.”

ChatGPT could do some (but not all) of that stuff for a while now, but you have to go into like a sub-ChatGPT, it’s weird

Huh, didn’t know that. Not sure there’s much utility in it for me, but I can imagine for parties or whatever it would be really useful, to create tailored playlists on the fly in seconds.

I just tested it out now, asking in the normal chat window to create a playlist; a bug prevented it from auto-adding to my profile, so I had to click a button to send it, but yeah, playlist choices were pretty solid.
