No idea. I know that when a playlist of mine ends, it automatically went to one of two songs and had to have done that at least 100 times this year, yet it doesn't show up in my Wrapped at all. I also don't think it counts all of my offline listens, which is a majority of how I listen. Last.fm provided a way more accurate view. It's wild.
My Wrapped is pretty basic this year. Main summary: I listened to a ton of k-pop. I was pretty bad at checking out new music this year, looking forward to some end of year lists to help revisit stuff I didn't check out.
OK so, I started using Last.fm in december last year literally because lots of people in here were saying it was more accurate than Spotify Wrapped and so I wanted to compare. Results are in and... there is basically no difference. The differences that are there I am 99% sure are because Last.fm is including YouTube data. Other than that pretty much the same.
one thing I do like about last.fm is that includes stats for albums. This feels like a much more accurate snapshot of my 2021 in music (non-2021 albums removed):
I checked out ManDancing because of this post and holy shit is that album good. Thanks Sucks that they’re not a band right now though
I listened to King Gizzard pretty much exclusively from last December to this May, not surprised they beat out Caspian. Fell asleep to a lot of Eluvium at the beginning of the year. I’m surprised about Origami Angel but I guess I listened to that record a lot when it came out, still think I listened to Mogwai, Deafheaven, and Foxing more.
