    Digital Music News:

After posting solid MAUs growth – along with a net loss – for Q2 2025, Spotify has seen its stock price plummet by about 12% on the day.

In the appropriate earnings report, Spotify disclosed an average of 696 million MAUs, including 276 million paid subscribers. Both figures represent double-digit YoY improvements and exceeded guidance. […]

“However,” CEO Daniel Ek elaborated during the earnings call, “as I look at our progress, the one area that hasn’t yet met our expectations is our ads business. We’ve simply been moving too slowly, and it’s taking longer than expected to see the improvements we initiated to take hold. It’s really an execution challenge, not a problem with the strategy.”

Could it be that funding AI warfare on the backs of working musicians while paying them nothing is the reason why you dropped 12%? No, it must be the ads revenue is off.

The most evil company, I literally hate this man, and this app.

I've been waiting for it to hit 725 to sell dang. But fuck spotify. Bot situation is out of control and worst audio quality on the market. Their radio algorithm is the only thing they have that's worthwhile at this point.

I can't believe how inferior their sound quality is even for paid.

Daniel Ek is a shitheel and doesn't value or deserve music. Not to mention the investment in AI military tech or the dogshit payout rates. Or indeed, the dogshit audio quality that sounds like it's been rerecorded through a sock. Apple Music, Qobuz and TIDAL all take it to the cleaners. YouTube Music and Deezer don't offer lossless but run laps around it when it comes to sound quality too. A market leader that doesn't care about main reason people use its service.

I don't know about you guys, but the audio quality sounds great for me, and I use some high-end beyerdynamic headphones; I've had the audio quality setting on Very High for a long time.

Everything about Spotify makes so much more sense when you find out that Daniel Ek and the co-founders didn't ever care about music and just decided it would be their best avenue for selling advertising.

i just dropped tidal because the carplay functionality was very hit or miss. Also “downloaded” music hardly ever worked right. Ended up giving apple music another shot since i can technically get the student plan.

My buddy who is a professional mixing engineer went down a rabbit hole and did a shoot out and I think is findings had Tidal and Apple Music on top and Spotify was at the bottom.

Apple does seem pretty good so far. However, i have encountered on both services that random songs have lower volume levels. Nots sure why. Most recently that happened with yellowcard’s take what you want on tidal. Was fine on apple music though.

    Might be Spider-Man...

I've never heard of more people leaving Spotify recently because of their d-bag owner, or for paying bands next to nothing than lately. Good for people.

Ya know I had little faith in us for the whole election thing, but this gives me hope.

Songs in general have different volume levels. On Spotify it has default settings to compress songs so everything sounds at the same volume which i hate because it ruins the natural mix/master. Songs should have different volumes or LUFS or whatnot
