didn’t realize Walmart has been slowly up their prices till I managed to catch a restock and saw a Zapdos EX box or whatever it’s called and they were charging $35 when I went to go pay. I pulled literally nothing and now I just wanna log off from pokemon again lmao. @Literal
posted in the NFL thread but forgot there was a thread here too. Recently remembered I had 2 binders of cards from when I was a kid and starting going through some of them. Here are some of my "better" cards so far, with more to go through:
I’ve kinda given up on finding pokemon cards for retail cause my town has basically been scalper groups snatching up everything there and usually online retails drops when im at work so im just baseball now.
found a bowman blaster at my local Barnes and Noble but I felt bad asking the person to select one not in the front so I just got the one they gave me. i pulled absolutely nothing just besides the base Hyseong Kim card I needed to complete the dodgers bowman set I think.
Do you guys have any resources on when it is and isn't worth getting a Pokemon card graded? I've got a ton of early cards and a bunch of them seem to be worth anywhere from $50-$200 even ungraded.
sending some cards out to be PSA graded, including: Blaine's Moltres (1st edition) Ancient Mew promo x2 Feraligatr (Neo Genesis) Misty's Tentacruel (1st edition) Umbreon (Japanese Neo Discovery) Espeon (Crossing the Ruins) Sabrina's Gengar Lugia (Japanese Gold, Silver, New World) Erika's Venusaur (Japanese Challenge from the Darkness)
I bought a holiday mega box (first time buying any box) and this is what I pulled i like the Acuña, not sure if anything else is good
it's cool! doesn't really add value, sometimes people try to pimp up their ebay listings with their numbered cards with "first print" or "last print" in the description if the serialized number was the same as the jersey number though, people who care about that will pay a premium
since you are the expert I will defer to you are the Pokemon vending machines ever worth it? There are like 5 of them within a ~10 minute radius of me, all in Acme supermarkets. secondly, do the big box stores typically re-stock the new sets for opening? I know Phantasmal Flames comes out Friday but wasnt sure if I should even waste my time.
Last I heard vending machines suck still cause people stalk the fuck outta them and do silly things to break the machine
I think gamebuy and Best Buy usually have set days they stock the new stuff but target an Walmart it’s up to distributors
Since this Pokemon boom has been even crazier than the 2021 boom, I would say if you're headed that way/shopping there already it doesn't hurt to check. People camp the machines knowing restock days and try to find ways to bypass the limits. It's better now in the sense that you kind of have a chance to get something every once in a while since the machine only disperses product here and there. There's been times where I went to the store just to buy food, checked when I got there and nothing - checked again as I was leaving and the product restocked. Also, if you ever see an "out of order" sign written down, it's probably not real lol. I personally don't go out of my way anymore to check. As Cobes said, gamestop and best buy usually do drops weekly now it seems. Gamestop will at least put a sign on the door the day/night before with the drop date/stock quantities. For me, Target and Walmart will restock on street date or day before street date for the stores around me. I also stopped checking unless I'm already there or took the day off, not worth the grind anymore. If I buy, it's 90% of the time online. There's many discords out there with retail monitors for restocks, but that's another type of grind that's also annoying
Take me back to 2020 when no one wanted Pokemon outta the vending machines and I could get all of the Hidden Fatesssssss
yeah I had to run to the store to get milk for my daughters this morning, so I went to one of the Acmes that had the vending machine. Same as you, on the way in, everything out of stock. On the way out, it let me buy 1 Surging Sparks booster lol there was a guy behind me that said he was there earlier and someone was able to get 2 ETBs from that machine, so it was definitely working. I follow a couple of the Twitter accounts that post about the online re-stocks. I was able to snag some stuff from Target 2 different times that will be getting delivered next week. Since I work from home and am at my computer 90% of the time, I can hop on quickly but nearly every time it is out of stock immediately.
Don’t do it man pokemon is too hard to get lmao my best times finding it were at Barnes and noble or random restocks at target
The downside to the twitters are that things are posted usually minutes after the stock ping goes off so you're at a disadvantge. I'm sure the accounts you follow have a discord, but almost all you gotta pay for. I've been in 2 since 2021 and it's only $5 a month each so I've gotten my $$ worth. Only downside is there's a lotttttt of monitors and if you aren't familiar with Discord, it's a little intimidating
my local shop (like 0.5 miles from my house) has tons of Phantasmal today, and only marking up like ~10% vs MSRP which seems to be the best in the area outside of the big box stores drove past when they opened just for funsies, probably 50-60 people waiting in line lol wtf man
man I went to work at 4 am and both the Best Buy and target had a good 30 people already in line for waiting for the drop I didn’t realize the hype was this big
My brother works at Fanatics and I just now thought to ask if he gets a discount at Topps. He gets 40% off through the website. I'm about to see about that
opened another mega holiday box since I got some extra money from a festival/hotel refund and it was the worst box ever
