I kinda thought the pokemon craze was slowing down until yesterday at like 3 pm people were already waiting for the release today of the booster bundles for ascended hero’s at my local target. There was a good 15-20 people in line and I’m like for the booster bundle??? not even the official launch had that bad of a line.
yeah, I checked a bunch of stores this AM around open and didnt find any. No one in my group did either so I legit dont think Target/Walmart even got the booster bundles for some reason
one of my coworkers does trades with a manager at one of the local targets so usually he gets the scoops and they did have them today. It was just no point in waiting cause of the all nighters lol.
Bought all this from a buddy at work today for $100. Pretty much slightly lower than market price on all. He was selling it all though the Collx app plus more he had in a binder….. and I just picked the ones I wanted. Spur of the moment buy, but some cool ones. Several from Evolving Skies. I helped him out and added to my collection. I also rebindered a full binder and a half. Plus more. Still going. Think ive been on this for 6 hours today lol.
Nice selection of cards there! In other news, my six year old and I attended a Pokemon trade night at a local shop around here and had a great time. Met some nice people and made some decent trades. Biggest one was that I traded my sealed Meowth promo from the Game Boy Color game for a bunch of cards for my kid that he was stoked about. I was a little sad to lose the promo but keeping sealed product that's just collecting dust isn't really doing anything for me so why not make the trade?
Very cool. I just set up my trade binder tonight. One of them. Basically my duplicate new stuff as well as dup vintage Team Rocket/Fossil/Gym Hero. Need another binder to do duplicate base set and jungle. Any of duplicate vintage stuff is all bulk, no holos since I only have 1 each of those. btw that Meowth card I’ve gotta have that somewhere. Tomorrow or the next day I’m going to dig in the basement boxes for my game box of that game. I swear I have that! I hope I’m not wrong.
trade nights at a local shop are a great way to meet new people in and around your area I have a card shop like half a mile from me that I started going to, and met some really good friends doing so
No dice. I did find my original Pokemon Red, Gold and Pinball boxes with games. I'm 99% sure I had the TGC Gameboy game. maybe its in the attic. That's something for me to tackle on a vacation or something. Our local card shop seems to just be just Scalpy McScalper with a store front. They would just go buy what they could at retailers and flip product. Buy full pallets at Sams Club when they let you do that. They don't give much value at all for trade or sell. From reports from my friends. Hard to support when I don't like the vibe, but, I haven't actually went in. I need to just swing by and judge for myself. There is a card shop over in Carrollton, GA I just looked up last night I'm going to try to hit up next week. I remember back in 1999-2001 my parents would take or drop me off at Books-A-Million for Pokemon league. I'd love to be transported back to those Sunday's afternoons. They bought me SO many packs of cards. IDK why they did it. Trading cards with random people as a kid. Take me back.
95% of local card shops are scalpers too at this point I'm in the Philly burbs, and we have a Facebook group where me and a few of us have tried to start calling these places out for being shitty to the community. A couple of the shops I know even pay people to wait in line at drops to buy up all the product for them. also, never sell/trade to a card shop. Always try and find a card show going on near you because at least at shows, you can get 80% value. Most shops will offer 50-60%. PS those games are worth a decent amount, especially if you have the box/instructions lol just keep in mind if you want to get some extra $$ for cards
Good info. I do want to hit up a card show. I usually work weekends so I'm going to have to find one in advance and ask off for one. IDK if I have the heart to sell my old games. But yeah I know they can go for some coin. Boxes are in great condition and yes all manuals are there. They've been in boxes in the basement for 20+ years sure, but maybe I get them out to display them better. Mild collector here. but........ money for more cards....................

Downloaded the Collx app. Already spent $40 and $90 on 2 orders of various Pokemon cards. Its so easy to add cards to the "deal/cart" from the same user. Trying to round out some smaller/cheaper cards I've wanted. You see they have more cards in their listings that are cool and you just keep adding. Hopefully the shipping and all that goes well.
We were at Target the other day with my sister's family. My BIL and I inevitably drifted towards the cards section as we neared checkout due to old habits. I was cleaning out my closet today. Long overdue. Getting rid of dozens of pairs of running shoes and other stuff. Anyway, this Ed Hardy box has been at the bottom of my closet for……..15 years? I think this was carried over from our old apartment back in 2009-2010. “What junk is in here” I ask myself. I am shook. I’ve penny sleeved everything except the energies. All from Heart Gold/Soul Silver era. I have ZERO memory buying this. But, me and the wife got in heavy on HG/SS on DS so had to have bought this then. Everything is basically near mint. Some bowing of some of the cards from time but in a toploader or binder no one knows. PSA 10 on that Umbreon is $14k. This one looks damn good. Maybe 8-9. Idk. Ungraded/RAW all the hit cards non-bulk are around $1100 total. Jesus.
