Spoon (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So many great records. Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is one of my favorites. Girls Can Tell is another one of my favorites.
the best pure rock band of the last 10-15 years no one plays with the classic R&R tropes as good as them while still looking fwd without stupid gimmicks Transference is my favorite, but Fiction is their masterpiece and already cannon breaks my heart that this thread doesn't have 100 pags of replies
For some reason I thought I had already created a thread. Fiction is really my least favorite though. A Series of Sneaks is really underrated also.
OK, here we go, a quick guide to Spoon's discography: Telephono: Actual (ignored) debut which is cool Series of Sneaks: underrated "debut" Girls Can Tell: the hidden masterpiece - favorite album of the "real" fan Kill the Moonlight: the critical masterpiece Gimmie Fiction: their (actual) magnum opus GA GA GA GA GA: the oh shit for some reasons I thought Spoon couldn't produce another amazing album album Transference: the obtuse, dark album that is secretly, actually their best album, the contrarian album [IN AN ALTERNATE (CRITICAL) NARRATIVE, THEIR FALL FROM GRACE] [ALSO MY FAVORITE] They Want My Soul: the this is not even funny, how can a band continue to kick ass in this way after eight LP's album - also, the chart topping single after decades album [IN AN ALTERNATE NARRATIVE, RETURN TO GRACE] listen to this band
I've only listened to their last 2 albums. Really enjoy They Want My Soul. Definitely will be checking out some of their other albums now. Thanks for that discography guide ;)
I have a real appreciation for this band because before getting into them it had been a long minute since I obsessed with a band with a large discography discovering them and going through all their records was a really cool experience that happened (as these things often do) while I was in a very unstable, unpredictable and wild (not in a party-drugs-sex kind of way) moment of my life I remember getting a box in the mail with like five Spoon vinyl records and just staying inside all weekend just playing them through and through such a fucking sick band I am appalled by the indifference of people here
By the way I completely agree with your discography rundown. I've been listening to this band for 15 years, and they continue to amaze me with each release. My favorites: Girls Can Tell Kill The Moonlight Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga A Series Of Sneaks Transference Also, let's not forget how good the coinciding EP of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is, Got Nuffin. Man, it sure is nice to have someone to discuss Spoon with.
one of the most lowkey consistent bands around Transference > Kill the Moonlight > Girls Can Tell > They Want My Soul > Series of Sneaks > Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga > Gimme Fiction > Telephono
really? Dude, go listen to Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga in full. After you finish that, check out Girls Can Tell and Kill The Moonlight. You gotta do this.
I've always liked these guys but They Want My Soul is easily my favorite. Not a bad album from these guys though.
Transference is the masterpiece. Every album is great though. I've never gotten into Fiction as much, but I can't deny how good it is either.
made a cool playlist on Spotify some years ago I'm not that into playlists but I think this is great - I'll post it tomorrow for all of you (Spotify isn't working now for some reason)
Girls Can Tell is my favorite but I love everything. Transference is definitely the last you should listen to if your just getting into them, the greatness in that one is how they subvert the normal Spoon sound.
