I'm also really stoked to hear those two unreleased tracks being released on the Hot Thoughts single on RSD.
I like most of this, but 'Us' is the most disappointing closing track in recent history, especially on a 10 track album.
Especially since 'Shotgun' doesn't really work as a closer, so we can't even say 'oh just leave Us off the tracklist', it actually feels incomplete.
Yep. I had the vinyl show up on Monday of release week and pretty much played it non stop while home until it leaked/came out and every time 'Us' ended I'd always think I needed to go flip it but then would remember it was over. Other than that I love the album, I just hate the end.
Yea I love "Us". And I prefer this to They Want My Soul. Transference has been steadily climbing my Spoon ranks.
just gonna bump this thread because I slept on this album when it came out due to going through some really rough shit at the time & didn't want to associate one of my favourite bands with any of that. came back and finally listened through on Saturday. holy fucking shit, this is amazing.
I really like it. It falls somewhere in the middle of their discography for me. I'm still just so baffled by their choice of the closing track.
Been checking out their other albums. I knew I heard them before HT. Those two singles from Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga are on so many commercials/tv shows I feel.
Now that the weather is turning, this is getting more spins from me. I agree it's in the middle of their discography, but that's not a slight, they have one of the best discographies of most active bands. Love the closer too.
Ok. I actually think Transference is a top 3 album for them now. All the shoulder shrug reviews when it came out are now completely preposterous to me. Did any reviewer actually listen to that album? Its 10 times the record the praised They Want My Soul is.
I don’t think I’ve seen a single mention of this on the EOTY lists thus far, which is a shame. I really love it.
