What a massive album! Loved the sequencing all the way through, and what a fantastic closer. Like others have said, this is hooking me in a way their earlier stuff never quite did.
The closer is a definite highlight in an album FULL of them. Gonna need to dig into the lyrics, especially as the closer sounds very hopeful and empowering.
Just picked up the Target exclusive. Wild how different/lower the price is when you bypass shipping. Wish there was a better way to support bands without literally breaking the bank.
best of luck. out of curiosity i checked my Target's inventory online this morning and they only got 2 copies
Considering she can do that part at the end of "Circle With Me" with the clean -> harsh transition (granted not holding it as long), I would think so. She's incredibly talented
This slaps. I need to revisit Eternal Blue and the earlier work because I remember disliking both for ticking all the cliche metalcore tropes back then, but they won me over so much with the recent EPs and this release that I'm open to changing my mind. I really appreciate the groove metal influence here and there. I've been on a 00s metal kick lately and I hear shades of bands in the realm of Chimaira at times, which takes me back.
Just posting randomly as I continue my listen. Riding The Wave makes me want to listen to theSTART. Something about the non-heavy parts hits that 90s alt vibe perfectly. If you guys love the atmosphere on this, I strongly recommend TesseracT's One. Another thing I want to touch on is Courtney's vocals. I don't know how to explain in a way that doesn't disparage other vocalists, but I love that she stays in what I assume is the middle of her range during the clean parts. I feel like high pitched vocals over this type of music is so overdone, so hearing someone take a slight left turn in that aspect is refreshing. I also appreciate how she tackles these parts in an ethereal way. That way, she doesn't sound like she's fighting to be heard over the loud instrumentation. She just glides into it, Chino like. The electronic breaks in No Loss No Love and those touches in other songs remind me of how Northlane and fallingwithscissors similarly push the boundaries of the genre. Hope they build on that even more in the future.
Deep End sounds like a metal cover of a sappy lovey dovey pop song (complimentary). It's so bright sounding!!
Fata Morgana reminds me of Lie Between the Lines by Better Lovers as far as the tone setting opener, and the 1-2 punch with it and Black Rainbow reminds me of how unrelenting the first two songs on Code Orange’s Underneath kicked off. then parts of Ride the Wave melodically remind me of Taylor Swift’s Clean, haha.
