best way to describe the new song is a mix of Yellowjacket, Rotoscope, and maybe something off of the Singles Collection EP. gets wild.
I was kind of meh on them before Rotoscope (I still only go back to a few songs on the full length and back) but Rotoscope and on has been nothing but bangers for me.
i'd say that the two singles they released between Singles Collection and Eternal Blue are where they really started to hit their stride (thanks in part to Dan Braunstein's production work/songwriting advice), but i'm a fan of all of it to varying degrees. i loved The Fear of Fear, but something about Rotoscope really jumped out at me in the best way. from what i've read about this upcoming album (particularly based on their new interview with Metal Hammer where they give a track-by-track breakdown of the album), it seems they've given it their all to try to craft something super unique that builds on those two EPs and Eternal Blue in an interesting way. i trust that the vision for this LP will pan out super nicely. breakdown below:
I love this new trend of bands just absolutely doubling down on the filthiest, heaviest corners of their music. I thought Soft Spine was unhinged, this is next level. EDIT: music video is uncomfortable, but in a good way. They’re the only band where I make sure to check out the videos, always top notch.
Judging by the description, curious to hear Crystal Roses the most as it reads like we could be in for something in the same realm as Nihilist Blues
there's a clip from their ARG on their website. it's more D&B than anything else (if my assumption is correct about what D&B sounds like, because i don't listen to a lot of music that sounds like the sample). still sounds great.
Courtney looks like a certified badass in that video. Love the eerie imagery with the faces "melting" off at the end.
https://www.reddit.com/r/spiritbox/s/uwtLGLYcUj apparently a slightly-longer snippet of Crystal Roses played right before the video premiered if anyone wants to hear that
Took me right back to the early 2010s, skimming through drum and bass and dubstep stuff on the UKF YouTube channels
