This thing ebbs and flows like a toxic relationship, sometimes it feels like heaven sometimes it feels like hell. It's the first 2025 LP I really liked and I hope it stays on rotation. Soft Spine is a huge SOTY candidate.
this is the best theyve sounded since the first ep. really dig the ways they kinda thread together influence from everything in their discog while also adding some completely new flavors in the mix. haven is unreal particularly, best dj0nt song since erra's wave dan braunstein again killing it helping these bands utilize their loftier visions the more music they have down. mentioned them earlier but this really reminds me a lot of erra's last album, partly because that's the last album in this style he did lmao but also because they both speak to similar levels of comfort in exploring their newfound freedom. really cool seeing this band get there so soon especially after blowing up as massively as they did
Oh my goodness. I had zero problems with how washed-out Courtney's vocals were in the studio version of this song, but this is incredible. Do they actually sound this good live?
Haha, I had issues with her vocals on the recorded version because I heard the live version first and was expecting the same thing!
i was actually at this show and honestly courtney's vocals were pretty low and muffled in the mix imo. terrible first impression of this song hahah this mix is great though
i’m honestly not sure what it is about this band that works for me as, on paper, it’s different than 99% of what i’m drawn to these days. i’m still a metalcore kid at heart, so maybe it’s partially nostalgia, but i think this whips ass.
My one critique of this album would have to be the single choices. I wish No Love No Loss was a surprise on album day. I simply am too weak to avoid listening to singles.
I was thinking this too, but I’m not sure what I would’ve rather had the third single be. Maybe the Title Track?
Yeah I feel the same way. This and Knocked Loose were two albums that play in a space that isn’t generally what I’m listening to these days, but they nailed it so well that I can’t help but love it.
Funny, because No Loss No Love might be my least favorite on the album (in the sense that it's my least favorite, I don't think there's a bad song here). "Keep Sweet" would be a dominating single.
Keep Sweet seems like the prime "single" after the album was released, but I'm really glad I didn't hear it until the album was out.
oddly enough, i thought for the longest time that Crystal Roses would be the third single because their little scavenger hunt game on their website unlocked a clip for it back in December or January, but i figure that might've been a tad alienating for some fans
I listened to this album on my long run today and I thought the same thing about a hawk sound during Black Rainbow.
That’s sick, I didn’t notice it but I’m gonna try and find it now. i wanted to support since I hadn’t bought the vinyl yet and got the digital download. Those live tracks are incredible. The end of Perfect Soul gave me chill bumps and I teared up a little. Band is unreal.
I’ve been living under a rock apparently bc I’ve somehow missed out on this band until now. Too good.
