Well if you’re talking about specifically this website sure the proportion is closer. But we’re also talking about the most popular intellectual property/movies in the world and then the diminishing group who is wary of the implications of a monopoly on entertainment

I’m already been through that topic a few days ago. I don’t feel like repeating anything because I haven’t change my thoughts on it.

The only way it being nominated for Best Picture would be good is if it kept “Don’t Look Up” from the nomination.

Yeah to say something nice about a Marvel property I'm confident this movie is better than probably 2 or 3 movies that end up getting nominated for best picture.

My general consensus is that most people don’t even consider the Oscars as a good standard anymore. Movie critics from all spectrums mainly observe it for tradition and fun.

Should NWH win? No. could it be nominated? Probably not. There are bound to be movies nominated that the average person would enjoy and memorize less than NWH.

Every time I go onto streaming services to watch independent films, I get a loud warning that I’ve selected something that’s not a Disney movie and if I feel brave enough to continue with my choice.

My favorite thing is the awards push they gave to “Endgame” that made it look like a prestige drama.

The people who spend the most time in Marvel threads being critical of Marvel are people with genuine affection for what this genre can be. It’s weird to paint those voicing critiques as outsiders coming into the thread just to complain. (And I say this as someone who really enjoyed watching this, as an easy mark for some of the Spidey fan service they dished.)

Also, as good as that Scorsese article was, I’m pretty tired of hearing about Marvel v Scorsese: Dawn of Cinema. I know that snowball has reached terminal velocity and can’t be stopped by any of us, lol, but the less we’re stuck viewing him (and everyone else) through the lens of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the better.

have people ever? i watch the show and get entertained by it but kubrick never was nominated. QT hasn’t won best picture. driving miss daisy and forest gump win over perfect films. i feel like everyone knows this

I’m never less interested in an MCU thread than when it devolves into the same tired “Scorsese vs MCU” conversation

Yeah, I agree. I see a lot of the same sentiment online which is why I said that my general consensus is most people don’t hold the Oscars as good standard.

I haven’t been active in film communities for more than 10 years, though, and my observation has only been of my peers.

But, yeah, to those who have been involved longer, I’m sure they have thought that way for decades.

Slightly off topic but also relevant due to his involvement in NWH, but I’ve been rewatching all 3 seasons of Daredevil and I think they deserved awards/recognition more than 95% of the MCU films.

Daredevil still the goat MCU show/movie.
