FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

If this had had a simultaneous streaming release I'd likely have watched it twice more by now.

In my head though I’d like to imagine it’s still there but nobody knows who it is or why they built it. Yet they leave it up

  4. Been invested in the MCU for like 10 years but god that was corny. I liked the movie as a whole but I feel like the 3 Spidermans was way too nostalgia-driven and distracted from a good story. The villains coming back was a really cool, convincing touch but I honestly think it should have ended there. Andrew catching MJ definitely still made me a bit emotional, though and their chemistry as a trio was surprisingly cool. Also, hands down best scene in any Marvel movie is that last bit with Tom Holland beating the shit out of Goblin. I really felt the emotion there and when they zoom into his bloodied face after I got this sense of him losing that last bit of innocence.

Haven't read back on this thread but will.
As a Garfield Spiderman fan most of all, will say that the movie was pretty cathartic.

Best scene in the whole goddamn movie is him touching the ceiling with one hand and just hanging there.

As the one with the best "young adult" look it would be super cool if they used him for alternative spider man stuff in the future.

The convo with Electro at the end made me realise he would be the perfect Peter to pair with Miles Morales in live action.

  6. Would be weird to see Holland as a mentor to Miles haha

If they want Miles to be in the MCU he would have to be mentored by Tom. I wouldn’t mind seeing Miles be in Andrew’s film but then he would be limited to that universe.

  8. Oh, definitely, Tom just has such a baby face I don't see myself feeling differently about that even ten years from now

Here I am! I made a post after I saw the movie saying I was glad I was wrong.

  10. Heh, there's some pretty big precedent for Miles starting in one universe and coming over to the other whenever the writers feel like it.

Yeah, wasn't that a result of Secret Wars, which we already know is going to happen in the MCU?

I’d rather Miles be born and raised in the MCU instead of being a variant.

    Assume It's A Bit

I’d say they already teased Miles in Homecoming but they’ve basically dropped every other thread from that movie so who knows

Vulture is in a weird place right now, because he no longer knows Peter is Spider-Man and he no longer has a reason to be appearing in Morbius, so like... why is he there?

Also, fun fact, apparently in No Way Home, there's an issue of People shown that has Liz on it and calling Peter a liar. I never saw it cause I wasn't looking for it, but it's there.

Depending on how young Miles was at the time (2016) then it makes sense to wait for him to be older before they revisit the Prowler. Nothing regarding Mysterio or NWH really needed Davis to be present.

Perhaps he still remembers that Spider-Man is the one who brought him down. He’ll just be seeking a more lethal revenge now that he doesn’t have an emotional connection to Peter…which loses a lot of my interest towards seeing him again, but oh well.

Good movie, the nostalgia was a little too heavy at times. Really cool to see all of them on screen together and the chemistry was great.

I am not a huge fan of the whole situation with Aunt May. Didn’t seem necessary and the whole way it happened felt rushed/sloppy to me. Seemed like it was just there to make him able to relate to the Garfield/McGuires versions…

    Holland’s quote

“You can ask [Martin] Scorsese ‘Would you want to make a Marvel movie?’ But he doesn’t know what it’s like because he’s never made one.

I’ve made Marvel movies and I’ve also made movies that have been in the conversation in the world of the Oscars, and the only difference, really, is one is much more expensive than the other. But the way I break down the character, the way the director etches out the arc of the story and characters — it’s all the same, just done on a different scale. So I do think they’re real art.

When you’re making these films, you know that good or bad, millions of people will see them, whereas when you’re making a small indie film, if it’s not very good no one will watch it, so it comes with different levels of pressure. I mean, you can also ask Benedict Cumberbatch or Robert Downey Jr. or Scarlett Johansson — people who have made the kinds of movies that are ‘Oscar-worthy’ and also made superhero movies — and they will tell you that they’re the same, just on a different scale. And there’s less Spandex in ‘Oscar movies.'”

My take is that I understand what Holland is trying to say, but he's chosen his words really poorly.

The first part sounds condescending toward Scorsese and makes me go ; I am positive that wasn't his intent but I also guarantee that's what people will laser in on and the only thing they'll take away from what he's saying.

Just breathtakingly cringeworthy. I almost wonder if it’s a strategy, since they’re the hypercapitalist monopoly and everyone knows it so they’re trying to frame themselves as the stigmatized underdog as an Oscar campaign/a way to get fans to decry auteurs and independent films and cheer on Disney/Marvel as they intentionally stamp out the rest of the cinematic landscape, but I know mostly it’s just that they don’t think about anything they’re saying.

Would love if just once, someone from Marvel actually engaged with Scorsese’s actual criticism instead of continuously pleading “no the we’re making serious art!”

Y’all know none of these people work at Disney except Kevin Feige right lol. And that Spider-Man is not a Disney-distributed movie.
