Do you have plans to watch this?

Dunno what your relationship is to theaters and covid in your particular context, and/or how much Far From Home and the bigger Marvel Studios machine has irrevocably broken you. But, I’d be curious to hear your take on some of the stuff in here eventually, both critically and emotionally.

He shouldn't be in Tom's world at all if he didn't know Andrew was Spider-Man. At least that's how Dr. Strange explained it. I recently rewatched all of the Spiderman movies and I don't recall Electro ever finding out his identity

    Amazing, spectacular, sensational!

    Thoughts:
    - Garfield’s Spider-Man saving MJ was so emotionally moving I think it was the high point of the film, if not the series.
    - I’m guessing Thomas Haden Church and Rhys were not involved other then voicing? I noticed when Sandman was cured back to human that they reused footage from Spider-Man 3, didn’t really notice that with Lizard’s curing though.
    - So what popular Spider-man villains are left to be used? Venom obviously, Kraven the hunter, Scorpion and Ned as Hobgoblin might work. With three films left I wonder how they’ll follow a movie of this magnitude. Clone series? Haha probably not even though I was one of the few fans that collected and enjoyed the 90s comics of the clone saga.
    - They did the Spider-man pointing meme not once but twice! And I barely even noticed until my friend “pointed” it out to me
    - I really liked how Michael Giacchino revived the original Danny Elfman Spider-man theme for Tobey’s scenes towards the end, guessing he did the same for TASM scores but those aren’t as memorable for me
    - I was just so happy to see all three of them fighting together at the end, exactly what I wanted since I first heard the rumors
    - I felt like they could have used J Jonah Jameson a bit better, felt a bit hamfisted in there.
    - The camera tilting of Aunt May saying the iconic line I thought was very effective and kept it from being as corny as it could have been.
    - Did they ever explain how Tom’s Peter was able to keep the box from Dr Strange even after he pushed his soul out of his body??

  8. Thought this was great. Really liked how they didn’t bring in the multiverse characters just for glorified cameos, which I was a little concerned about. Loved that the movie weaves the other Peters’ meaningful reflections on their past experiences into Peter’s (Holland) arc. It was sort of beautiful. Garfield and Dafoe for MVPs. Some of the action was too dark and CGI-heavy, but I enjoyed most of it.

I didn’t catch it myself, but apparently while Peter is out of body you can see spider sense lines above him. I would assume his bodies reactions were controlled by his spider sense. But that’s just my guess.

As someone who saw ASM 5 times in the theaters (lol, I know, I’m not sorry for connected to that thing hard when it came out), I can confirm his scene resembled the end of that movie a lot. I believe it’s right before he remembers that he killed Captain Stacy.

I feel like everyone forgets that Ned only “was the Hobgoblin” in that he was brainwashed and framed, lol. Which, I guess technically counts, but not in a way that matters, imo. Y’all gotta read Hobgoblin Lives! by Roger Stern and Pittsburgh’s own Ron Frenz. (Fun gag about that in here, though.)

I think it’d be fun if, after an Alien Costume Saga film, the symbiote ended up on Mac Gargan instead of an alternate Eddie.

I mean, this movie is technically partially based on the infamous One More Day story and is a hit, so you could totally take that overlong, overly convoluted mess and make something good out of it. I’d be happy to see a Scarlet Spider.

Chameleon, Kingpin, Hammerhead, Tombstone, Black Cat, Mr Negative, the Smythes/Spider Slayers, Silver Sable all could fun new characters to bring in. Now that so many have been used, I hope they go one layer deeper into the bench of villains.

Lizard's conversation with Electro about his plan to turn people into lizards reminded me a lot of this:

It would be interesting if Ned's line about "not becoming a villain" really did lead to them doing a comic-accurate Hobgoblin storyline. Like, let's say time passes, Peter's lost track of Ned, fights Hobgoblin, ends up unmasking him, and it's a brainwashed Ned. It'd be great.

Now that they have JJJ in his prime form again, they should totally do a comic-accurate Scorpion plotline too. Have JJJ fund it, have Michael Mando return and be a volunteer for the process, and bam. It'd be great for JJJ too, to have him have to deal with the fallout and ramifications of being responsible for a supervillain.

    Don't forget Slyde!

But seriously, if they ever get far enough into this to dive into the C-listers, one villain I've always thought was interesting and could also be somewhat topical is Cardiac.

It’d be fun for the next trilogy to be about crime bosses with Kingpin as the big bad running things behind the scenes

There’s no way they don’t have Spider-Man 6 be the sinister six.

Yeah now that Fisk is officially in the MCU we need a Spidey vs. Kingpin movie.

Also because that would obviously mean he teams up with Daredevil and my childhood dream of seeing them team up in a movie will therefore come true.

This was good! I didn't love the previous two, but this delivered.

Dafoe and Molina are great, of course

    Fight choreo was really cool.

Garfield was also really good in this. I don't like the ASM movies much, but he's great here. Also maybe informed by how much i liked him in Tick Tick Boom

This is pretty high in my MCU ranking, I think

    Hold on a minute

Let’s not get my hopes up for a college Peter teaming up with Cox’s Murdock and going against D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. That would be peak college trilogy. Add Miles being introduced in the film and I’d love that more than any sinister six film.
