Oh, also, as a long time Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker stan, this movie (and some of those moments in it that got big audience reactions) had me going [Chris Carrabba voice:] “Vindicated!”

Truly the overall best actor to have played Peter Parker in a movie, who deserved better.

I want an entire franchise of what Andrew's Peter was doing between TASM2 and this

This had its flaws, but I overall don't really care. This was SO much fun. And yeah, it's very apparent that Andrew is the stronger actor of the 3 imo.

I also can't decide how I feel about Peter not telling Ned and MJ. He IS being responsible and wanting to keep them safe, but at the same time, he explicitly promised them.

Maybe the worst part of any MCU movie was May asking if doc oc wanted fresh or salt water.

The ending was just an excuse to put the toys back in the box, in a way that leaves a clean slate regardless of what happens with Marvel Studios, Sony, and/or Tom Holland, and/or the relationships between those three parties, going forward (not to mention whatever director, since Watts is off to make aggressively safe & dull F4 films).

Thinking too hard about it as a character’s choice is a fool’s errand, imo.

Depending on how negotiations and relationships work out in the coming years, I wouldn’t be shocked to see either a credits scene or the last scene in a trailer be Zendaya in a doorway saying, “Face it, Tiger, you just hit the jackpot!”

(Speaking of direct quotes from the comics, I like that May said the actual original full quote from Amazing Fantasy #15: “With great power, there must also come great responsibility.”)

I was glad they only kind of did the Spider-Man pointing meme. Well executed.

You telling me you're not excited for an origin trilogy that ends with the team at the point they probably should've started at?

I don’t have a problem with him addressing it head on. It’s calling it “separation trauma” when it was one giant mega corporation wanting a bigger piece of the financial pie and then throwing a fit when they didn’t get it and weirdo fans getting up in arms about it.

The thing is… that time is passed. Are we gonna take an Andrew Garfield in his 40s and give him an ASM3 and beyond? This was a great epilogue to the two prior franchises, but the idea of dragging a 50-yr-old Tobey into a Secret Wars film or whatever shit makes me sad, lol.

Plus, Andrew is too good to deserve being eaten by the superhero movie machine again.

If the Kraven film doesn’t get canned after Morbius comes out, and is set on the Venom earth, and they decide they want a Spidey to show up in it in a relatively contained role, I’d happily take Andrew in that. But otherwise, the one thing I’d take from him is a last hurrah in a Venom movie that ends in his character’s heroic death.

this was decent. not the best of the MCU but probably top 5. really just illustrated how much better of actors Garfield, Maguire, Dafoe and Molina are than anyone in this iteration of the character’s universe. that being said, the storytelling here is better than the other three by staying a bit more grounded in the parker-MJ-ned of it all. i don’t know why we needed all the villains who had nothing to do though. definitely a fair amount of fat here. solid 3/5.

Oh I know we're well past when that would have been feasible. Doesn't mean I can't long for what could've been lol

Seeing Andrew fight Venom after moping about how lame he is for never fighting an alien would be pretty great

I gotta say, between this and Tick Tick Boom, plus me finally getting around to Scorcese's Silence, it's been a pretty solid past couple months for Andrew and me. Maybe I should fuck around this weekend and finally watch that Never Let Me Go DVD I bought for cheap forever ago.

I’m looking forward to the 4K release for the Tobey/Andrew behind the scene features. Should be interesting to hear what they say about coming back since they haven’t been able to talk about it publicly.

Wow, just wow. Seriously teared up several times. The most emotional moment for me though was when Andrew Garfield caught MJ. That was so perfect.

I mean, I’m not one to pile on fans for wanting to continue to see a particular version of a character when they, beyond any measure of control, were getting screwed between two corporations arm wrestling each other.

As I said, this was most likely for journalists and not fans, and even if Kevin was saying it for fans, who cares? Oh no, he coined a term for fans that were upset that an emotionally attached character that gave them joy was possibly being put in production hell. It’s just as weird to take much measure in that, bro lol

If Sony has any self awareness we should expect a Garfield Spidey vs Venom. The cards have been correctly shuffled.
