I'm gonna try not to repeat what people have already said, but I loved this and I am so electrified right now after having seen it.

I do think the post-credits with Venom was a giant fuck you to the people who wanted to see Hardy take on Holland, but I actually enjoy that kind of fuck you, so I'm fine with it.

Strange trailer looked awesome. Stoked to see the evil Strange from What If and why he's there and what it means, if anything, for the little prison he's guarding.

Cox's cameo was brief but satisfying, and between that and Kingpin in Hawkeye, it had a lot of "we did it, guys" energy to me. Now I just need to know if this means the Netflix stuff is canon or not.

Other than that, I just loved the way it seemed to tie things together for all three franchises. Lots of nice moments for everyone involved and I think it gave both Maguire and Garfield's cast some closure here and there, with everyone being cured and on more or less good terms by the end.

I'm curious what the ending means for the future. Will the next film still have the same cast involved or are we starting over fresh? I hope the former just cause I like the cast. I'm curious if they'll do like in the comics where seeing Spidey unmasked triggers memories to return.

I think they're gonna leave Ned, MJ, and Happy behind for the most part. Wouldn't be too surprised if Ned or MJ comes back at some point down the line, but I feel like it'd completely undermine Peter's decision at the end to just bring them right back as main characters.

Murdock was in the film prior to the spell changing the multiverse, so I think we can say with 100% certainty that all Netflix Marvel is canon.

    Not necessarily.

Was able to switch my tix to IMAX for tonight. Outside the Tobey and Andrew stuff, nothing spoiled so far. Stoked!

I'm honestly more mixed on this movie than most people it seems. It was nice seeing some old pals get a second shot at it, but overall I was pretty underwhelmed.

Might be because I simply do not like MCU Spidey, and hold Spider-Man 2 and Into The Spider-Verse in such high regard that it made me just want to rewatch those instead

I also have to think they’d hold off on more MJ since Zendaya’s asking price has likely skyrocketed since “Homecoming.”

Personally I want them to go with Black Cat for the college trilogy

An MCU Gwen wouldn’t hurt (although I wouldn’t hate it if she is saved for when Miles is introduced) but, yeah, I see Black Cat making her MCU entrance in the college trilogy.

I definitely see them going back to MJ, but only very small stuff in the 4th film. Maybe make her a supporting character again after that. I definitely would like to see Black Cat, Spider-Woman or Gwen show up in the college trilogy.

Exactly. Just using Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock does not make him the same Matt Murdock we followed for three seasons on Netflix.

It's my understanding though that the next episode of Hawkeye will answer this question.

You're right, but at the same time, to not bring them back at some point would undermine the promise he made to them at the end of the movie before the spell was cast. For him to tell them that he'll find them and make them remember and just never do it is kind of dogshit.

I think it was just to add uncertainty to whether Holland would kill the Goblin or not. I agree it was probably unnecessary and I did for a legit second think they killed Tobey so I get the feeling of it being pointless, but that's what I think the purpose was: to just heighten the drama.

Holy shit, I almost put that in my post but decided I didn’t want to bring up that train wreck of a film.

Eh. Peter realized they were safer being disconnected from Spider-Man and that whole aspect of his life. He could still very well wind up being friends with them again, but there's no way he's gonna just try and put things back to where they were pre-Mysterio.

Nah, it feels like Disney/MS is gonna keep the characters/actors from the shows but they’re getting a soft reboot to better suit the MCU canon. Like it’ll be implied but not referenced.

This is my assumption at this point. I guess time will tell though.

Absolutely not. One tricked you into believing a character died, the other didn’t make the audience think that whatsoever.

You could be right, but that feels like the absolute wrong lesson for Peter to learn from everything that happened in this movie.

I mean, Michelle made a point early in the movie of telling him to not make decisions unilaterally, and just because they don't remember the promise they made doesn't change the fact that this would be him making a unilateral decision again, meaning he's learned nothing.

It would disappoint me if that's the route they choose to take the character.

They need to make it all canon so Iron Fist haters can eat shit.

Nah, the wrong lesson would be for Peter to come away from all this thinking he can still have it both ways. Whether it's a unilateral decision or not, Peter has a responsibility to keep the people he cares about safe. Bringing them right back into the fold (read: right back into danger) feels way more irresponsible than breaking the promise to tell them IMO

    This is correct, though.
