I mean you're the one who asked "by whom" it was well-received

If you don't like them that's one thing but to act like they weren't positively received by audiences and critics alike is just silly

Lol of course general audiences aren’t the best barometer of quality but, like, don’t ask “well received by whom” as if the answer isn’t “pretty much everyone, critics and audiences alike, except this website”

Yeah the metacritic scores show less enthusiasm but like most Marvel movies, they did well on RT.

I feel dumber for reading these last few posts. It is possible for people to both like and dislike a thing and coexist with each other in a respectful environment. No one has to be right, wrong, or whatever. Both sides are equally stupid.

I mean we should also flat out ignore rotten tomatoes, nothing about those scores matter. It’s a measurement of agreeability and metacritic is a closer, but still flawed, quick reference for critical reception

I tend to agree with RT more than Metacritic. I usually only view Metacritic when it comes to game reviews. Ultimately not a single review site matters in the end imo. Sure, it helps make people decide whether or not they want to give a film a couple hours of their time, but what a film gets on RT or Metacritic won’t make me decide if I liked the film or not.

I still get hyped when a film I’m looking forward to gets good reviews prior to its release, though.

Not that I use Rotten Tomatoes to decide anything, I do like seeing the Rotten Tomatoes scores just because I think it's an interesting barometer of how much something is liked or disliked. I recognize all it signifies is what percentage of an audience liked or disliked something, and doesn't allow for nuances or distinctions inside those numbers. It's still fascinating though, especially when there's a clear disconnect between critics and the public.

I don’t trust any database that weighs the thoughts of Richard Brody and Chris Stuckmann equally

i only really use RT/MC to decide whether or not to see big dumb blockbuster types. any real movies requiring real thought are better off deciding for yourselves

There hasn’t been a single piece of cinema that requires real thought since the release of Grown Ups 2.

Struckmann’s videos are comfy. It’s like listening to a friend talk about films, but that’s all the weight I’d put into his reviews

Who was the guy on RT that would just spoil perfect Pixar scores but also loved the seltzer movies? Love that dude.

I am now learning that he was kicked off Rotten Tomatoes for his antics. Armond White was a god damn hero.

People talk about these movies like they’re “Rise of Skywalker” and it blows my mind.

I don’t mind. I just wanted to make fun of Rise of Skywalker again

Rise Of Skywalker is what happens when a studio thinks they're doing everything that the fans want and finds out that they couldn't be more wrong.

I will always be grateful that no Spider-Man movie so far has been as bad as Rise of Skywalker

Spider-Man is pretty fortunate to have a good franchise record. Spider-Man 2 is regarded as one of the best comic book films, Into the Spider-Verse won best animated film, a new film celebrating three generations of Spider-Man is about to be released, etc.

Even the lowest films (SP3 and ASM2) still have highlights that fans point out.

    Spider-Man fans have it good.
