Charlie Cox and more villains would be fine for a trailer

 

The internet has known about Tobey & Andrew for such a long time. There are leaked images online that pop up with a basic Twitter search, sometimes even if you’re not actively looking for them. There’s an in person fan event celebrating the release of a dang trailer, which they had to move to a larger venue! Plus, the trailer’s gonna be attached to that Ghostbusters movie, which is Shallow Nostalgia Fodder, the Movie; those crowds are gonna eat up a brief look at Tobey.

Not ending the trailer with a shot of all three of them in light of all that, for the sake of “spoilers,” would be unsurprising but so, so stupid, lol.

 

I’d be ok with that. More excited about Daredevil being in a film more than anything else tbh.

 

I've wanted Daredevil and Spider-Man in a movie together ever since I was a kid, so yeah

 

S3 of Daredevil was so great. Definitely happiest Cox has been brought back

The real interesting question is will this be the same Cox Daredevil from the Netflix shows or are they actually treating those shows as a different universe. I imagine this movie will be artfully positioned to not answer that question definitively yet but who knows.

 

Manage expectations

 

If Marvel’s smart, they’ll keep that Daredevil continuity vague. Don’t overtly contradict anything major in the Netflix show unless there’s a dang good reason, but don’t lean too heavily into a direct Season 4 that requires watching 1-3, either. Just keep it understood that something loosely resembling the Netflix stuff is somewhere in this Daredevil’s past, while giving this “new” take a fresh start.

Also, maybe give him a better costume, lol.

 

I rather not see Maguire and Garfield until I see the movie. Imagine if the Portals scene from Endgame was spoiled in trailers?

 

What if Marvel just threw Eric Bana, Nic Cage and Wesley Snipes in this for two minutes like "fuck it, everything was the MCU" lol

 

Just give me a post credit of MCU Howard The Duck and 80s Puppet Howard The Duck chilling

 

I mean, that's comparing an entire climactic sequence very late in the film to the presence of a couple confirmed supporting characters. Depending on which reports floating around are true, and to what extent, there's a chance it could be more akin to Han and Leia in The Force Awakens' marketing.

 

Or to stay in the MCU, Hulk in Ragnarok

 

Movies were decidedly better when the internet didn’t exist. Lol

 

No, but really, if we get all this nostalgic multiversal bullshit and don't at any point get Lea Thompson as Beverly, I'm gonna be pissed. With how supportive and enthusiastic she was about a fictional Lea Thompson showing up in the Zdarsky/Quinones Howard the Duck comics, she'd definitely be all about that.

 

I don't really care one way or the other about who is or isn't in the trailer, but I will say - assuming they are in it - not announcing them at all would violate pretty much every principle of marketing I know, for a $250m picture it would be almost unprecedented.

If you want to maximise opening weekend sales you don't leave something like this hidden! Forgetting everything else, Tobey and Andrew are big name actors!

Trying to think of an analogy and the best I can come up with is imagine if they hid Hulk's presence in Thor: Ragnarok until it hit theatres.

 

Maybe they tease them without actually showing them? Like the pumpkin bomb. Or maybe their voice? I donno... I could see it going either way.

 

Every single Marvel fan I know knows they’re in it without seeing them in the trailer. It’s built plenty of hype already so I don’t think it matters either way.

 

I just hope the tickets go on sale when the trailer drops and not on some random day

 

Soooo when is this trailer dropping?

 

I'd be fine with not seeing them, it'd be cool to see that first in the theater but not announcing them would be silly for the marketing reasons.

Like hey if you live under a rock, guess what, no matter what your favorite Spider-Man is in this movie lol

 

Yeah idc if it shows Tobey and Andrew or not. We all know they’re in the film. Whether I see it in a trailer tonight or during the movie in a month. It’s whatever
