Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the best adaptation of American superhero comics into a non-comics medium, period.

Spider-Man 2, as much as the me of a few years ago would’ve hated to admit it, is a very special superhero movie. I have my quibbles with it, but the alchemy of everything that does work in it… might not be possible with a Marvel movie anymore?

Amazing Spider-Man might be my favorite superhero origin film? Idk. I’m probably biased, ‘cause it was the Spidey film I wanted at just the right time; I ended up seeing it five times in theaters, which wasn’t passed by anything else until Spider-Verse.

Venom is not a Spider-Man film, but it is a film based in the world of Spider-Man that I genuinely enjoy more than any Spider-Man film besides the above three.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is impossible for me to “rank” because it’s, in its theatrical form, probably the biggest haphazard mess, and yet the things it gets right are the pinnacle of what I want live-action Spidey to be. If I had the technology and skills, I’d make a fan edit of the film that’d be great.

    Spider-Man: Homecoming is… fine, idk.

Spider-Man is a fine warm-up for its far better sequel, but I can’t imagine throwing it on instead of either SM2 or ASM. The origin chunk of the film would make for a charming short film, though.

Spider-Man 3 is a fun mess that does more right than some nerds realize and sometimes might be above SM for me, but it just doesn’t quite work overall.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a bottom tier Spidey film but, with a less biased eye, maybe not the worst? Idk. Zendaya saves it, but my favorite Spidey villain being wasted on this messy mediocrity is truly a travesty. Oh well.

I’d be 100% down for a fan edit of ASM2

I haven’t seen AS2 but I know it’s the worst spider man movie

  6. I refuse to rank the movies again.

(but FFH or SM3 are the worst)

Fan edits exist already for ASM2, but I’ve never watched any of them. Most of the summaries I’ve read of ‘em sound like improvements, but just a little off from what I’d wanna do. One of these days, though, I’ll probably just accept that I’ll never take the time and resources needed to make my own, lol, and try the best sounding one to see if it’s close enough.

AP is the only place I remember seeing the Webb movies received warmly, particularly 2

It’s FFH by a mile IMO. At least SM3 has some cheesiness I can smile at and no iron man nonsense

It's been a VERY long time so my memory could be wrong, but I thought the bell tower scene with the symbiote suit was pretty great. The only other adaptation of it that I had seen at the time was the Fox Kids cartoon, and I remember it being pretty faithful to that anyways

I know alot of people didn’t like That ‘70s Venom, but I liked that character for what Sam Raimi intended it to be: an evil Peter that gained superpowers but never received the advise from Uncle Ben.

Yeah SM3 has a few redeeming qualities, like the scene you mentioned, but is mostly bad. FFH is just bad bad lol

I remember watching a CGI Spider-Man show on I think MTV when I was a kid. Where was that in Spider-Verse

Ah yes. Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. Featuring Neil Patrick Harris and it was in the Raimi-verse.

It's funny, as much as I disagree with this opinion, I totally understand the sentiment, as the main reason I've never seen the first Amazing Spider-Man is because I was frankly disgusted with the design of the Lizard. Incredibly petty, I know, but there you go.

It tends to exist in a similar memory hole as Spider-Man Unlimited.

Spider-Man Unlimited was wild. Spider-Man, in space, against the High Evolutionary?

If Marvel Studios was so set on doing something ~*different*~ with Spidey, the cowards should’ve gone that route instead, tbh.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

as much as I dislike the majority of everything about Spiderman 3, Sandman being created is probably one of my favourite single scenes in any comic book film. fucking amazing
