Watched this again last night and loved it. Much better on the second go around. Absolutely love Tom Holland in this. Such heart in his performance.
Mann I wish you could rent this, but I'm getting too impatient to watch this in 4K, probably gonna buy it tonight :P Also, related to the 4K tv stuff in the last page- are there many 4K TVs out there that aren't also Smart TVs? The reason I don't get an UHD Chromecast or Apple TV is because I already have the normal HD versions of both and my TV has all my apps that would supply that content EDIT I'm an idiot, people were mostly talking iTunes videos, nvm lol
I'm gonna keep posting throughout the whole thing, but one thing I wanna throw out there that I forgot about: Showing Vulture at the beginning wasn't a good choice. Should've cut that little "8 years later" snippet and gone right from the decision to keep alien tech to Peter's Civil War video journal.
lol, it's at least bad in a way that I appreciate thematically. I like that it looks like a child designed it.
Indeed. I still liked some of the jokes. I still loved the car conversation. I think Holland is great. But that was about it.
My favorite trend is someone saying something negative about the film and then the “but it made lots of money” crowd coming in right after lol
Haha. Another reason I like digital. I can pick how all my stuff looks. And pick the best poster/cover and extra photos.
Hahaha if only gross consistently correlated to quality. I liked Keaton, too. But beyond that, I kind of just had it on in the background and it didn’t really demand my attention.
I meant to say that I wouldn't keep posting, but maybe the typo was prophetic. All this early high school and "friendly neighborhood" web-slinger stuff is the best part of the film. I want more charming scenes both inside and outside the costume next time. Lean into the grounded fun of the character.
Oh hey, the one reference to Aunt May having maybe some kinda tragedy in her recent past. They get closer to "dropping the f-bomb" in this Marvel film than referencing Uncle Ben. I also would've liked more May in this film in general. She and Peter have a nice dynamic.
Oh man, the cuts in that scene between Peter at night and Tony in daylight were needlessly hard on the eyes. Also, this should've been the first appearance of the Vulture suit. Also, reminder that Vulture accidentally killing someone is funny without context but awful for the tone of this film. Toomes has so much pathos everywhere else. If anything, they should've had him accidentally kill the first Shocker in a heated moment and then be shown to regret it.
The best moments of humor and charm have aged the best. The action thus far has aged the worst. I still love Michelle.
