It dropped 60% like I knew it would against Apes, which is one of the largest drops for the MCU. It still passed the entire domestic gross of ASM2 in 10 days lol
Homecomings estimated to be at over 500 mil so far, it's 470 right now but not all in yet. For a two week haul that's not bad at all
Best Spidey film thus far. Felt like reading the old Stan Lee comics, with Peter's greatest threat being his own inexperience. Give him some time and this Parker will need a sinister six gathering to give him a real challenge. And Keaton might be the first Marvel villain I find interesting. I know people love Loki but I just think he's okay. Let's stop the rebooting now, please.
Just saw this. I really liked it a lot. Had some problems, but I had fun. Loved Holland, Zendaya, and Keaton.
Finally got to see this yesterday and have been catching up on this thread. Overall I found the film to be enjoyable with some great moments. There are some bits that I really didn't like - but they were bits that I expected to not like (predominately, a Spider-Man suit provided by Stark and relying heavily on the tech - I don't claim to be an expert on Spider-Man compared to others, but this took away from the character that I've experienced when I watched the cartoons as a kid. They try to show this version as clever but his cleverness is undermined by his reliance on Stark's cleverness.). I also felt that having him so inexperienced and trying to prove himself in this film really undermined Civil War. Why would Tony Stark pull him in in Civil War if he doesn't think he has the ability and talent to fight. He clearly held his own in that film so having him lacking confidence and having an awkward time in the suit here didn't make enough sense. I know they threw in a token "if Cap had really fought you you wouldn't stand a chance" line but it still doesn't make sense. But hey, I didn't like his inclusion in CW and the way he (and others) were shoehorned in - I didn't think it made sense then, so I'm going to scrutinise it here. I also don't like the way Aunt May has been characterised in this reboot. And I definitely don't like the 'hot' jokes about her. Not necessary. Overall, standard Marvel film. Fun but plenty to critique. Oh, and here's a question I have: what are Spider-Man's powers and abilities? Because here, without any obvious spider sense, it seems like the only ability he has is extreme athleticism and the ability to stick/climb walls. What makes him a 'spider' if we don't see how he got his abilities from a spider, particularly when he (or Tony) has created the web shooters?
Great point about Civil War, that kinda bugs me now. Also in the Infinity War trailer apparently Spidey uses Spider Sense so it's present, although not shown in this film.
Not sure if it was mentioned in this thread (I backread aroung 2-3 pages) but one of my favorite moments was from donglover. specifically the part where he was putting groceries in his car trunk with one hand webbed. And spidey mentions the web comes off in 2 hours, and donald complains that he had ice cream. His delivery was just so casually thrown at the end and the thought of him impatiently waiting for 2 hours watching it melt is so hilarious
I really, really hope Glover has a more prominent role in a future movie. He was one of my favorite parts in this one for how small his role was.
During the end credits you see a silhouette of Glover waiting patiently by the trunk as the sun sets.
Not sure if it's been said in here yet, but apparently the D23 Infinity War footage showed Peter with the spider-sense or at least alludes to him having it.
I mean, just because we didn't get the slow motion close up on his face or anything like in the other movies doesn't mean he doesn't have Spider Sense right? To swing around and move like he does, he's got to have something of that nature already.
I mean, two people walking in on him with his mask off and him getting hit in the face walking out the school shows he doesn't.
Very good points, esp getting hit in the face. But, then again, I feel like his identity has been discovered similarly in certain comics. Seems like there's some uncertainty as to what triggers it, but I'm not totally sure. Again, I'm mostly familiar with the Ultimate run of the comics, so not sure how in depth comics have gone with it.
