The Iron Spider armor first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #529 and was designed by Joe Quesada where it was based on a sketch by Chris Bachalo.[1][2] Peter wore this suit as Spider-Man's official costume until writer J. Michael Straczynski chose to revert to the older costume. It was used symbolically to show Peter's divided loyalties during the 2006 - 2007 "Civil War" storyline.
I just realized what my least favorite moment was. when they do the Ferris Bueller running through backyard sequence. I'm sitting there going, "this has got to be an omage to FB, that's fun." Then they actually have someone watching the movie? Wtf? Way to dumb it down. It felt like saying "may the force be with you, and then going, "you know, from Star Wars!" As if it was too clever for anyone to figure out on their own. It bugged the shit out of me.
Should have shown the Domino's commercial with little Jean Ralphio. Also: Weirdly enough, they're using the "Ferris Bueller" race home music for some of the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" ads.
i just saw someone point out how the timeline is all messed up now. All because of that "8 years later" moment.
I really enjoyed this! Of course there were issues but I walked out of the theatre with the biggest smile on my face and that's all I really ask from a Spider-Man movie. I'm really happy that there are kids just getting into Spider-Man who get to see Tom Holland as their first because he just kills it.
This was definitely a mixed bag. Love Tom Holland. Felt like it was very shoehorned into the universe and the pacing was odd at times. Probably the best Spiderman film, but that's not saying much.
The timeline of the phase 1 movies has always been a bit spotty. The MCU seemingly happens in real time, or close to it, but Iron Man 2, Incredible Hulk, and Thor all happen within a week or something. Iron Man supposedly happened in 2008, but Iron Man 2 happens only 6 months after, which means every phase 1 movie but Cap and Avengers would also have to take place in 2008-2009, but then we know Iron Man 3 happens in 2012, which seemingly happens very shortly after Avengers, meaning that movie had to have taken place in 2012 or late 2011 at the earliest. According to what Vision says in Civil War AND what is said in this movie, Iron Man and Avengers happen within a few months of each other... It's really best to just not think about the timing of any of the early movies lol
That's bound to happen when they're trying to retcon the most profitable superhero and his dozens of supporting characters/rogues gallery into a franchise that was, like, 15 movies in or something. Especially when they try to force him into a movie that's 7 years old now...
I have difficulty comparing movies I have only seen once. What are all the options? This, Wonder Woman, and GOTG2?
I think it's my least favourite. Logan, Guardians 2 and Wonder Woman were all better for me. I loved all three of those though so that's not saying too much.
I've been starting to get a little sick of superhero movies lately, but Logan, Homecoming, and Wonder Woman have turned me around a bit.
