In spite of the name, I think he's basically just gonna function as Peter's Ganke. I particularly doubt that anything even resembling the Hobgoblin stuff will ever happen. Agreed on IM3. I would've loved to see Shane Black's version, with his original plans for Rebecca Hall. Also agree on Doc Ock, but as we've well established, we're forever mortal enemies when it comes to Maguire's Parker poopiness, lol. Maybe this will be the Spidey film we will finally agree on?
I'm honestly not too interested in a full-on Spider-Man/Doctor Strange film, but a film where Spidey visits Strange could be fun. I eventually want to see a film with the original Morlun/Ezekiel story but with Silk thrown in, which could be a fun chance for Peter to do some research at the Sanctum.
Hopefully so, and hopefully because it's a success! Not staking any investment on trailers as a general rule, but I certainly like Holland's casting from what was seen in Civil War and think he taps into a better high school Peter Parker energy than either Maguire or Garfield.
The Character I'd like Dr. Strange to interact with the most is Loki. Maybe a small battle? I think Spiderman is the only character in the MCU who would be really fun to watch with anyone though. Huh? I can't think of any other movie franchise that has done what they've done this well, even if it isn't perfect. All that screams excitement to me. For someone who likes the movies enough to keep watching them, what would they have to do to get you on board?
It's more than not being perfect. It's being forced. I think Civil War was a good movie but while it was certainly fun to see all those characters together, not all of them needed to be there or were given adequate character or thematic motive to be there. Sure, to an extent it's commendable that the MCU has pulled this large of a shared cinematic universe off as well as they have, but their priorities have shifted from telling singular, dramatic, investing stories centered around character to throwing everybody together in the new movies. Overall, I think the quality of the films will suffer because of it. Make good movies. Hire good and interesting filmmakers. I don't care if Spider-Man meets Black Widow or if Iron Man fights alongside Rocket Raccoon, I care that the movies are good. Marvel's made some good ones. They've made a lot of middling ones and a few bad ones. I want Black Panther's movie to be his own thing, I want it to be Black Panther's story, especially since it's his first solo movie. I don't want it to be too caught up in furthering Bucky/Cap stuff, much as I enjoy the Cap movies.
That gripe is one of my gripes lol. I actually wish the didn't ground everything or try to make everything fit in a cookie cutter box. It's a movie... about people with superhuman powers.. based on comics. It doesn't always have to make the most sense. I'd like them to give more credit to the audience, but that might just be me. EDIT: Before I get ripped apart. I know you're talking about story beats with the characters, but I'm just talking in general.
I'm excited for this. I've wanted this in a spiderman movie. Actors in highschool that are actually *young* and a pretty playful feel. I don't mind Tony Stark being so involved because it does make sense after the set up from Civil War. I doubt he will be nearly (if at all) as involved in the sequels. This is such a specific gripe but I hope the post prod team gets it together and doesn't wash everything out before the film's release. I hope to eventually see live action Carnage. Such a good story arc and so much that can be done with it.
I don't hate the character of Tony Stark at all, but he has a tendency to dominate the films he's in, and I want this to be completely focused on Spider-Man. Plus there's only been 2 years since 2010 and up to 2019 where we haven't had a movie with Iron Man being a main character (11, 14) and a break every once and a while is nice so I don't grow to dislike the character, that's all. Is anyone else getting the vibe that, minus the bank robbery, this feels like a Miles Spidey movie but with Peter instead? It's not a bad thing necessarily just an observation.
Civil War definitely felt forced in bringing all of those characters together. I'm ok with it because of how much I loved the scene but yeah I don't really want more of that going forward. Also I'm super disappointed in Bucky being in Black Panther, partly because I just don't like Bucky.
I would give anything to have Carnage pop up. He's far too dark of a character for that to ever happen, but it would be amazing.
Not blown away by the trailer, but it looks fun. Hopefully all the Tony Stark in the trailer is just for marketing and he doesn't overstay his welcome. I was also thinking this ha
Is it confirmed that Bucky will have a role in BP? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised at all. I just don't recall seeing that confirmed. I could be wrong though.
I can understand that. As much as I loved it, it was weird that Hawkeye and Antman would give up their lives with their family and become fugitives after fighting so hard to keep it the last time we saw them. Stuff like that did seem shoehorned in. To the people bringing up Carnage....god that would be amazing, but I don't see it happening any time soon. I think the way to go with Carnage in the films would be to have the symbiote introduced. Already have Brock and his hate for Peter set up in previous films and have him become Venom. After a fight or two between them, have some symbiote find Cassidy and have Carnage wreck everything, forcing Vemon and Spidy to team up for an epic fight showing Vemon is an anti villain than straight up bad guy. That is just a dream though.
The way I'd do symbiotes is by having a Venom film (with Spider-Man in it, but it'd be specifically a Venom film where he's the protagonist), and making Carnage the villain in that. I also stand by Ruth Wilson being a perfect Carnage, but they'd never be willing to do that. Nah, just a theory. Not an unlikely one per se, but also not a guarantee. I honestly lean towards him not waking up until Infinity War or Avengers 4.
I don't think so, I think it's just assumption because he's in Wakanda. I'm not going to lie, as much as I want this to be a BP movie, when the action gets heavy, I wouldn't mind BP unfreezing Bucky to help out in a fight. I would also love more character development from him other than "I was mind controlled and I'm sorry and silent".
This is probably gonna be an unpopular opinion but I don't want Carnage anywhere near this franchise. He's way too one dimentional and comes off to me as more of a cool costume than an actually good character. Marvel as a whole has a huge villain problem and giving us someone who's main goal is murdering people for the sake of murder would not be compelling at all to me.
It would be better than no one ever dying and no real consequences. Someone completely unhinged would be awesome. That's more of a Netflix type thing tho..
I like the addition of Stark. Besides the added feel of several Ultimate Spiderman elements-- it feels a bit been there, done that. Still digging what I'm seeing though. I'm going to try and avoid all other trailers until the movie.
If you want a nuanced villain, Carnage isn't the right choice. However, he is visually great and a perfect antagonist for a hypothetical film centered around Venom. Just cast someone who pulls off profound evil effectively to carry the character, and you really have something, albeit something that's more of a chaotic force of nature than a character to connect with emotionally. You can totally tell a great story with a chaotic force of nature.
Exactly. Not everything has to be super in depth/character driven. That's my gripe. Everything has to be so huge, end of the world shit. Can't we just have a little random chaos.
