That suit is terrible, blah. Liked some of the tone. Not sure if Keaton was trying to do something with his voice?
What a teaser! Loved pretty much everything. I'm not sure if I want to watch anymore trailers after this.
I like the suit. Trailer made me feel warm inside. Vulture looks more promising than I expected, but I'm still cautious. Also nice to see diversity in the high school characters.
For real, we're finally getting Spider-Man done right. This is incredible. I don't even have words, this looks like it's everything I wanted it to be.
A lot of this looks really good... I can't decide how I feel about it as a whole, but a lot of it looks just wonderful. There is something really weird to me about Iron Man flying alongside Spidey at the end; while I'm still a proponent of Tony in a mentor role, I'm not 100% sure I want much suited up Tony in this. Overall looking forward to this a lot, even though the sting of losing Andrew Garfield and not getting Miles Morales hasn't quite gone away. Whether this ends up being fantastic or another enjoyable-but-very-flawed Spidey romp, I think it'll at least set the stage for a strong series of films. I'll enjoy watching the journey this Peter should have in front of him. Thought: I wonder if Zendaya is, indeed, MJ, but will exist on the fringes until the end of the film with a "Face it, Tiger"-type moment. Could set up a fun dynamic between MJ and Liz in the sequel like MJ and Gwen had in the comics.
Looks cool. Still am not a fan of making Ganke Peter's friend instead of Miles' and I'm worried about having too much Iron Man, but Stark sells tickets so I hope it's just a marketing ploy to show him a lot and he's not actually a big of a role.
Meh. Didn't really get me hyped... seems like it's gonna have too much Tony Stark.. seems kinda just like ASM. With the train scene replaced with a boat from SM. Oh yeah. That was my other gripe. Wtf is with every bad guy having to be so grounded. Vulture in a mech suit.. didnt we see how that went with Rhino in ASM2. Hopefully Keaton will kill it. Sad, way more hyped for GOTG2.
I don't think I'm "aggressive" but then I come across terse most of the time anyway, and that I guess could be seen as "aggressive" — if so I apologize, I'm sorry, it's not my intention— I just really don't want to have the exact same argument for the 900th time and was trying to say that. I don't want to argue with Marvel die-hards. It's the same thing every time and it's such a waste of time. I found it a tad ironic that my post about what turns me off of even wanting to talk about Marvel movies was followed by a paint-by-numbers of all those very reasons. I don't wanna have debates with Marvel apologists or people that take any criticism with "you HATE Marvel and their fans!" — it's just silly. I've read more Marvel comics than most (if not just because I'm old), and I truly love so much of what Marvel has done for my life in the last 20+ years or so. But by and large their movies are a massive disappointment to me, I don't like many of them, I think their success has been bad for the movie industry as a whole as more and more movies/franchises are getting "Marvelfied," and I don't get why Marvel can get away with things no other studio/director/movie ever could. It's the same things I've been saying for a very long time now and each new movie makes me a little more right. I'm not trying to be aggressive, I just flat out don't wanna argue, again, with super-Marvel-movie-fans about the same things when I point out all the things I don't like ... which I do all the time about everything because I'm (stealing it) hypercritical.
I remember when people said Andrew Garfield looked too "cool" and not nerdy enough. Tom Holland does not look any less "I am a male model" to me in this film. The girl calling them nerds is weird. So much time being dedicated to the male gaze is weird. So much time with Tony Stark is what I was afraid of. Villain costume looks awful and would be rightfully destroyed with another studio doing this movie. The bridge scene looks down right train level cliche, but ok. If Tony hits on Aunt May in this movie I may walk out. The logo still sucks, I'm still not totally down with the big black lines on the costume. Some of the CG looked off he glided in a weird way over surfaces and there was a lack of tackiness between the character and the walls. (I still think the ASM2 suit and how he moved and talked is the best I've ever seen Spidey looked. I sure wish that movie was better than it ended up being.) I have multiple Spider-Man stuffed figures in my house right now — including the one that dances to itsy bitsy spider. I love this character and I don't hate Marvel. Having to type a disclaimer is weird.
Pretty over superhero movies for the most part but I'll always have a soft spot for Spider-Man (and Batman). This looks pretty good, maybe too much Iron Man but we don't really know how much he'll actually be in the movie yet Also Donglover at 1:53!
I like the trailer a lot. I'm excited. Still not a huge fan of the suit, I agree with Jason that ASM2 is still easily the best he's looked ands sounded. I'm not that worried about Tony in this yet because I don't think he'll be in it that much more than he is in the trailer. Hopefully I'm right about that. I'm also not that into the scene that looks exactly like the scene from the Raimi film, not sure why they did that.
Being somebody who's never cared for any of the spider man movies, this is the only one (I think) feels like the shows I watched growing up, and actually fun/interesting.
As someone who hated the ASM series (Webb films) and preferred the Spider-Man series (Sam Raimi stuff), I'm optimistic here. Tom's Peter doesn't seem to be a hipster like Garfield, and is a bit closer to Tobey's portrayal of Peter. The only thing that bothers me was having his best friend find out that he was "the Spider-Man" in the first film. I mean, I guess it's better than having forced drama of "Why are you keeping secrets from me? I thought we were friends?" bullshit, but still, meh =/ Still excited for this film, can't wait for it to release.
It looks like they've nailed Peter's characterisation, which is really awesome. It's weird to think that a decade ago we were still suffering through the worst miscasting in superhero movie history- Tobey Maguire. I think the costume looks great (although I don't like it as much as the costume in ASM2) and this movie looks like a whole lot of fun. I like that based on this trailer it doesn't seem like Vulture will be a sympathetic villian, which'll pretty much be a first in a Spidey movie. The two things I don't like: 1. Spidey's friend discovering his secret identity already 2. Iron Man. Anymore than 10-15 minutes of screentime and his presence in this movie will be too much Other than those two points, I'm really excited for this movie!
I never bought into this whole idea that Garfield was too cool to be Peter Parker, as in the comics the character was never as much of a hopeless dork as Raimi's films made him out to be. I don't really see why you would prefer Holland's Peter if the whole "too cool" thing was something that bothered you in the ASM movies, as he actually seems to be even cooler in this film haha. He actually has a friend! Also, Holland seems far more charismatic than Maguire ever was, what similarities do you see between them that I'm missing?
Holland is more charismatic in-costume, which is where he should be. I've always been enamored with that idea that Peter sort of comes alive inside the suit and that's what leads to his cocky, jokey, like "I'm going to fuck around with you before/while I'm beating your ass up" attitude. And Holland really nails that. Plus he isn't, you know, 30.
That's a good point and I like that idea too, although in the comics Peter didn't suddenly morph into a clueless nerd everytime he stepped out of the costume like in Raimi's films, which is why I enjoyed Garfield's performance so much as it felt much closer to the source material. I will admit it's kind of hard to buy that Garfield was a high school student though haha, he looks at least 25-years-old at best in the first ASM (although the same could be said of Maguire).
