Funny, but the only things we ever disagree about is that I don't get offended when I guess I should? I think that's it.
I'm sorry, but you've obviously have never been on comicbook forums/fan sites where you have DC fanboys defending the DCEU to death, even saying that the DC films are too deep (Intellectually) for the general audience to get. Here's a very tame screenshot of a sectioned thread
I can see problems with their movies and there's a lot of things I would personally change but I still enjoy most of them so much, ha.
You also defend a lot of blockbusters I think suck and laugh off criticisms as examples of people overthinking movies, lol. You're basically one of the only people I know who fits into Jason's assessment of Marvel fans. But, yeah, your unabashed rejection of all discussion and criticism when it comes to representation is exhausting to witness. I've considered blocking you over it, but I still have an unwarranted hope that you'll right the ship in your head and join us. Maybe being corrected enough times will eventually convince you to look at this differently. That's what I'm saying! Ha, you're up there with me as Marvel's biggest stans on here, and we still are very open about their shortcomings. That's why I'm so confused about Jason's wish that Marvel fans were "more honest" or whatever. Like, I'm an outlier by arguing that Marvel's villain problem isn't worse than their peers in the same time period (which, sure, isn't a high bar, lol), and by thinking that Thor 2 isn't trash so much as a forgettable, vanilla film. And, I criticize them all the time! These forums, the internet at large, and my IRL friends are full of people talking about their flaws. Oh well. *shrug*
You mean DC movies and Jurassic World lol! But it's not so much that I laugh off criticisms, because I have them too, but rather the over reaction of "this film is so terrible and awful and the worst thing ever". Really? There is nothing redeeming or enjoyable about all the things that go into a movie? I will never buy that. I'm sorry I'm exhausting you. I'm pretty sure I apologized for derailing the representation thread with JW and that I don't ever really post in there because I don't have anything to add, I already agree with most of it. Also I did give Supergirl a chance after hearing that Superman and Martian Man Hunter fight Metallo together. Nope. Even though I can't believe we live in a time where that is happening on tv and the costumes all look so good, it was cheesy and lame Add that to the list of our disagreements lol
Sounds like the argument for Interstellar lol. Even though I liked BvS and SS, I don't see how anyone can defend the issues people have with them. I will say that I absolutely love Man of Steel though and that is one of those movies I may never understand the criticism of. Def the best of all the DCEU films so far.
Props for giving it another go, but shame on you for not loving it! What did you watch? It slowly found its ground in S1. "Human For a Day" was the first genuinely great episode; I occasionally rewatch it, especially after consuming bad DC material like their recent films.
I have no problem with Stark making the suit as long as Peter makes the webshooters, which was confirmed in CW. Better explanation than some kid making it out of Underarmor, or having MJ sew it up all the time. I do hope they show more of Peter's genius, though. I wanna see him nerding out with Tony or Bruce.
Haha maybe. I understand it's appeal isn't universal, but it looks how Marvel wants it to look and that's good enough for me!
"I defend Thor 2 but point out some flaws sometimes" is sure a funny way to think that makes what I said incorrect.
Jason, I like you a lot, but I'm honestly really taken back by how aggressive you've been to me in this thread. Did I interpret aggression where there was none, or come across harsher than I meant at some point myself? And, liking Thor 2 isn't evidence that you're right. I'm open about that film's flaws but still enjoyed it well enough for what it was. I also still really like both Garfield ASM films. It's possible to like something and still be honest about its quality.
I don't take anything from him as being aggressive, it's not like we are talking politics or anything important. At the end of the day, it's just a movie. I take it more like when my friends and I are debating movies and things like "are you fucking kidding me? That movie is garbage and you're absolutely wrong" get thrown around, all in fun though. Maybe everything just comes across more harsh in text.
No offense, but I'm not asking for your opinion in this instance. My friends and I do the same. I've had a lot of superhero conversations with Jason in the past. This one just feels a lot more personal to me for some reason, hence my reply to his post.
