I think you need a big pop to launch smaller characters which a slow burn often diminishes. I think if Cindy is introduced here without being Silk, she will be pigeon-holed as just one of Peter's friends and her eventual transformation into Silk will be diminished where as if she's introduced and made a hero right away she can make a big splash while the audience's opinion of her is still being formed. I'd love to see the plot be Peter dealing with Vulture, trying to find out who this new/unknown Spider person is, and looking for a date to the homecoming dance, only to find out at the dance that his date (Cindy) is the mysterious Spider person while at the same time Vulture attacks and the two team up to save the school/city. She then leaves (possibly for her own spin off or to meet Tony for Avengers training) and we end with MJ and the classic "Face it, Tiger" scene after she's been trying to get his attention all movie. Sure it's a little cliche and corny but that's what makes Spider-Man so much fun to read. Most of the time, the more complex the story, the worse it is with him (Clone Saga, Brand New Day, Spider-Verse, Spider-Man 3, ASM2), while the movie widely seen as the best, Spider-Man 2, has a very simple, yet well done plot.
I say this as a huge Silk fan with a picture of her as my phone background... I think tweaking the character might be necessary. I mean, her comic book origin is tied to Morlun and the mystical aspect of Spider-Man and that massive Spider-Verse event, and I just don't know how that's supposed to translate well into a movie. To do Cindy Moon right, she needs to be awkward due to being sheltered, and she needs to wonder what happened to her family. I think they could get there with a simpler angle of Ezekiel raising her through adoption and being overprotective. Then she could be included in a tweaked version of the original Morlun/Ezekiel story.
Wasn't sure which thread to post this in, but Spider-Gwen is going to be popping up at the end of season 4 of the animated Ultimate Spider-Man series, voiced by Dove Cameron and I'd love to see her play Gwen in a movie.
I can dig it. Seems like a pretty practical take on his comics costume akin to what they did with Crossbones.
I really, really like that. I'm so glad to see Shocker, and to see him look great! Let's get more of Spidey's lesser foes on screen now.
i'm fairly impressed that Shocker looks p decent and not corny in live-action form. even in those shaky spycam pics! i imagine he's gonna look even better in the polished footage then
To be fair, is that really that impressive when we live in a world with cool live-action costumes for Captain America and Batman? lol.
Zendaya Responds to 'Spider-Man' Casting Controversy, Mary Jane Rumors: "People Are Going to React Over Anything"
I dunno. The way that was worded makes me skeptical of the rumors, but the lack of an outright denial is interesting. Maybe she'll end up being Gwen Stacy instead, lol.
After my initial surprise at the look, I realized that a pilot jacket is a perfect way to recreate the neck of the Vulture's classic outfit that makes practical sense. I honestly really like it.
