People who are thinking he meant these actors will all be in SM3 are jumping the gun.

Two people on the subreddit have asked him about his claims and he said he is “investigating it” which most likely means he has heard enough to make a post, but hasn’t received a confirmation that he wants to go on record with.

How about we not try to pull a live action spiderverse until Spider-Man 4? Spider-Man 3 seems to already have its own plot with Peter on the run

I say take a cue from DC and get weird. Make a Raimi/Maguire Spider-Man 4 picking up with that Peter Parker at whatever age Tobey Maguire is now and then if you want to do a live action Spider-Verse thing you can bring him in, people would go nuts.

That's not actually something I want. Well, a Raimi Spider-Man 4 could be interesting, but I don't actually want a live action Spider-Verse, I don't need Tom Holland to meet Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Takuya Yamashiro. I like when Spider-Man has grounded stakes and I wish that were a playground Tom Holland could get to play in with his Spidey, as much disdain I have for the creative team handling Spider-Man movies for the MCU. Homecoming is probably closest but even that had a lot of Iron Man/Avengers stuff going on.

If Maguire was playing a high schooler in the first Spider-Man, and was in college in Spider-Man 2, that'd make his Peter like, in his mid thirties right now? I know Tobey was playing like 15 years under his real age

I would be down for Marvel to get crazy. No one really wants to sit through another 10 years of the same thing. Phase after phase. Have fun with the multiverse before DC is saturated with it.

This, I’d be interested in. But, don’t call it a “Spider-Verse” movie (unless, like, that became Sony’s version of the “Elseworlds” brand; don’t make it overlap with other films). And, only if you can get the whole crew of Raimi, Maguire, & Dunst together, able to 100% do their own thing.

Oh, & give ‘em a kid. Take some inspiration from Mayday Parker Spider-Girl and/or the underrated Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows series.

Speaking of grounded Spidey, I hope shooting the next Tom Holland film during this pandemic doesn’t mean we don’t get any good NYC stuff. So wild that we literally got to the last five minutes of the second film in this franchise before we got to see him really let loose web slinging through the city.

This is exciting because some of my favorite Strange comics are when he teams up with Spider-Man, but I don’t see Marvel holding themselves from universe mixing due to this.

Loved the Dr. Strange teamups in the 90s cartoon so I'm very excited

Team-up? Cool. Fine. There was basically a mandate for years at Marvel of "This book's not doing well? Make them team-up with Spider-Man", so it's very on brand. Still would rather there be at least one MCU Spider-Man movie where it's just HIS movie with no hammering of the "LOOK HE'S IN THE MCU", but fine. ANOTHER mentor role though? Come on...

I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of the Sony deal. Peter gets to be in the MCU Avengers films? Sony wants a MCU hero in their films. Also just because Strange is described as a mentor, doesn't mean it will be in the same role as Tony Stark. It will probably be Strange helping Peter figuring out whatever multiverse stuff happens.

Yeah I mean, if they're going for multiverse stuff, obviously Dr. Strange will be mentoring Peter since he's... Y'know... a literal expert in magic and the multiverse?

Obviously can't know for certain what the plan is right now, but seems early to overreact

We have a perfect Spider-Verse film series already, which has a sequel in development. And, we have a Marvel Studios multiverse film already on the way shortly afterwards... starring Doctor Strange. So, if they really do put a multiverse spin on this film, it’ll be such an absolute waste of a film, especially after that FFH credits scene set up a completely different story.

And, if all that multiverse talk is fan bullshit & Strange plays a different role, then I really hope it’s a small one that THR has inaccurately interpreted as “a mentor role.” Like, Peter goes to see him early on to see if he can help with the identity stuff, doesn’t get the answer he wants, & then doesn’t see him again until the end, after he beats the villain(s). ‘Cause, Strange’s abilities completely throw off any potential for an actual grounded Spidey story.

Tony Stark and Strange as mentors are both definitely Sony ideas.

Strange doesn’t seem like a mentor. Hopefully he just “guides” Peter through the multiverse or something.

Could there be some multiverse stuff going on as they seek Mephisto to make the world forget Peter's identity? That could totally be valid from the setup at the end of FFH, and I wouldn't call that a completely different story

If they even think about touching something One More Day-adjacent, I'm out

To be clear, I don’t want Mephisto, lol. We really don’t need to go full One More Day.

I mean more so just a low key, like... a panicking Peter goes to see Strange ‘cause he thinks the wizard can just magic away the problem. Finds out it’s not that easy. Then, the rest of the film continues relatively magic-free. Then, have Strange pop in again at the end, but keep it low key enough that it doesn’t break the film. Some small One Moment in Time elements in the massaging of putting the identity away again, but coupled with non-magical elements so it’s not some lame “oh Strange just waved a wand & change everything!”

I’d rather have him not there at all, but if he has to be, that’s the low key way it should happen.

And, I cannot emphasize this enough: I absolutely do not want any multiverse shenanigans in this particular film. I’d even be cool with Spider-Man being in Raimi’s Multiverse of Madness & this having a credits scene teasing that. But, please, for the love of everything holy, just let this story stay mostly grounded!

That's fair. I'm totally on board for some multiverse shenanigans, but I also hate what they did with One More Day, so I could do without that. It'd at least be more tolerable in this universe since MJ and Peter only just started dating vs after being married, but I'm still not a fan of going that route
