Taking that holiday slot from that delayed Avatar sequel, while gaining a little more time to get the film ready.

Still blows my mind that we’re getting this, Venom, & Morbius in the same calendar year (theoretically speaking). What a wild year that’s gonna be for Spidey fans like myself. Now just gotta hope this one finally makes me happy...

My thoughts on this are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thread (hate when these comic book film topics get spread among multiple threads at the same time, lol). But, my guess is that there’s multiple villains going after Spidey in this one, but that the Sinister Six isn’t formalized until the end. Maybe in like some kinda post credits tease.

Could also see the third act of this one being the Six, though, which I’d be cool with. If they go that route, I bet Mysterio resurfaces in the third act as their surprise leader. And, either way, I expect Vulture to have some kinda important role at some point. Could also see the Scorpion actor from Homecoming getting his suit with the tail in this one.

Not blaming you or anyone in particular! lol. It’s just an annoying side effect of having all these different threads. Could’ve ended up here, there, or the general Spider-Man thread.

I've always wanted Sinister Six to happen bad. And to see Michael Mando's Scorpion.

No shade if you like it but fuck is ASM2 awful. Maybe the worst superhero movie I’ve ever seen. Definitely top 5.

It has the most unfocused story of any Spidey film, yes, & also some random puzzling choices sprinkled on top. Though I do maintain that, even just out of the footage we have access to, it could’ve been salvaged into a pretty strong comic book film in the edit.

But, even as is, it still has so much going for it amidst the mess. Like, the best Spidey costume by far. And, outside of the Electro stuff, probably the best live action Spidey score? At least the main hero theme & the character/romancey scenes’ music. And, the Peter/Gwen dynamic mostly ruled. The physical comedy was also consistently strong, as was some of the action stuff. Some good thematic stuff, too (which is buried under some distracting stuff, but again, just a different edit without having to rewrite would’ve done a lot for that shining more).

Oh, and my official take these days is that Venom is the third best Marvel film Sony’s made, behind only Spider-Verse & Spider-Man 2 (just above ASM), so...

I still get the feels when I watch Gwen’s death. Garfield and Stone are slightly behind Paltrow and Downey for best Marvel couple.

Messiness of films aside, Andrew Garfield was still a great Spider-Man & Peter Parker. Love that, between him, Tobey Maguire, & Jake Johnson, we’ve had three cinematic takes on Pete that feel faithful to the core character while each having their own unique spin.
