That, and the writing on those movies isn’t exactly top notch.

I’m remaining optimistic that a new director and seeming desire to get back to a classic approach to Spidey makes this work better. Because I’m a sucker, lol. But, that writing duo’s track record isn’t exactly the strongest.

I'm not a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd installments. Homecoming was fun enough, but still not perfect.

NWH was fun for seeing Tobey and Andrew, but take away the nostalgia, and it's a pretty mediocre story imho.

I would take TASM1 over any of those three films

I am looking forward to what the new director can do with the fight choreography, Shang Chi was great in that regard

I don't know if I'd use "top notch" but at least I don't have any problems with the Watts films and found them quite enjoyable and entertaining.

    And so it goes.

I don't think they're terrible or anything, I've still seen all three multiple times - I just want something more out of Spider-Man :)

I don't know what "something more" looks like but I hope you get what you want.

I want Spider-Man to THWIP the bad guys and drive Frank up the wall.

I want Spider-Man's humor to be less from a place of naivety and spastic over-excitement and more from a place of acting cocky and taunting towards his villains I guess is the best way I can put things into words. I don't like how Holland's Peter tends to drive other people crazy due to his over-excitement about nerd stuff instead of just having this incessant need to make lame jokes lol

And just more independence, maturity, and seriousness mixed in with the humor (which I do think we will get to a degree now that he's aging and has nobody to lean on that remembers him - though I am still bummed that Aunt May is just gone now).

I want him to be the Spider-Man that other heroes look up to, rather than someone who looks up to everyone else.

Again, hard to put into words haha.

Tom Holland's got too much of a babyface for that.

I just want a solo Spidey film that is great on its own merit.

    Haha this is fair.

Idk, I like when heroes are simply amazed by the Amazing Spider-Man

Maybe I should rewatch the “home trilogy” or whatever in my cautious anticipation of the new one. Though, I really don’t like most of Far From Home, so that one would be annoying to sit through again.

Same, but I will admit some of the trippy Mysterio stuff was a lot of fun

    Things I remember liking:

    - Mysterio laughing at Peter with his henchmen after he somehow tricks him into surrendering the murder glasses (what a stupid macguffin and stupid “twist”).
    - That one little bit where Mysterio does random weird illusions, the only sequence in the whole movie where they remember that the fun thing about Mysterio is him being creative.
    - Just about everything about MJ.

I think it’s that, as a society, we can finally joke about the Homecoming suit not being that great

Yeah, well, overusing poorly done CGI that looks like smoothed out play dough doesn't look very good either, Jon
