I don't feel strongly enough about this to argue, but I did enjoy all three Watts films, and while I'll agree that there's nothing I could point to as being his style, I don't believe that's a detriment to making an enjoyable film.

I agree. Like I said, I love the trilogy personally, but they could've definitely had more of an identity. It doesn't take away my enjoyment, but it makes me more interested to see what a new director will do with it.

I think it's a detriment to an extent, but I still enjoyed them! I do think NWH is one of the worst ones story-wise and I only loved it due to the cameos, but that's fine

If you want to see some decent action scenes with Daniel Wu under the direction of DDC, American Born Chinese is good.

    thank u, next Supporter

I’ve never seen a DDC movie and kinda believe at this point there’s a low ceiling on a modern Marvel Studios & Sony coproduction. Because of both their individual inadequacies and the mess of them navigating whatever corporate hoops together.

But, it surely can’t be worse than those Watts movies, right? I’m gonna be a sucker and see every Spidey movie that comes out, even shit like Far From Home, so hopefully there’s plenty to like here.

Also, I like the idea of Tom Holland not being in Doomsday. Hope that’s at least mostly true.

You should seriously watch Short Term 12 then. Just a fantastic movie and it has nothing to do with comics or action. So you can see that side of him that he can bring to this too.

DDC’s movie ‘Just Mercy’ is a great drama starring Michael b Jordan. Brie Larsen is also in it.

His Shang-Chi film is also one of the few highs of the “multiverse saga” thanks to its fight scenes and Tony Leung. DDC was able to keep it as much of a family drama as anyone could have hoped for given that it’s Marvel Studios.

Fun fact about DDC. While he was intrigued by a Shang-Chi film, he was originally against directing big studio films and had actually told his agent to prevent him from accepting any offers. It was his friend Ryan Coogler who helped him overcome any reservations he had and sign onto the film.

    Trusted

Short Term 12 is an amazing movie. The cast is like a Scott Pilgrim or Wet Hot American Summer level - “this would be one of the most expensive and stacked casts if they did this today” situations

in 2013 this cast didn’t mean anything:

    Brie Larson
    Kaitlyn Dever
    Lakeith Stanfield
    Rami Malek
    Stephanie Beatriz

Unfortunately I haven’t really cared for anything DDC has done since.
