I think after the snap, Marvel just fast forwarded everything because of being gone for 5 years.

Would have been neat if after the snap in infinity war there wasn’t a single marvel show or movie until 2023 to make the 5 year time jump align with our time. Just 5 years of silence from marvel

I know that was sarcasm, but it actually would be neat to have a show or movie where half the population IS actually gone. If it was a NYC hero, just have vacant buildings, cars, etc. make reference that half the police force is gone so they need more heroes, etc. Definitely could have benefitted from something like that instead of making 25 bad shows.

I mean No Way Home was after the snap, so if it was 2024, why did we go so far ahead after that?

NWH was released in 2021, but in movie was 2024. We're now in 2026, in movie timeline is close to 2028. Marvel has been pretty good about releasing movies with similar in-year time. I think they're working on closing the gap.

I guess I'm just not sure why they don't just do whatever they want. Seems arbitrary.

the marvel company should have killed half the population IRL so we could all feel what the characters in their movies felt. a shame theyre not as committed to cinema.

Tbf, getting closer to the irl year is them doing what they want. No one is making them do it. It seems like they’re doing it just because they want to.

Look, actors age, and doing a comic book “sliding timescale” with movies is awkward.

The timeline that’s been created by the Endgame time jump is also maybe awkward, but like. It’s easy enough to not think about, imo. An amount of time happened in universe vaguely comparable to irl, and I think that’s fine.

Is this the first Spidey movie without a main villain?

Which brings us full circle back to my personal opinion that skipping out on all that time feels like a wasted opportunity. That's all I'm saying.

I’m a big fan of Peter in college material in the comics. Could probably find posts, maybe even in this thread, where I imagine what a college trilogy would be like with Tom Holland.

But also. When I say “fans” don’t always need to get what they think they want, that includes me. If people involved decide a different next step made the most sense, and the result is a better Spider-Man movie than we’ve had in years, I’m down.

They should just make one Spider-Man movie a year. I don’t see the issue.

My only issue is I hope the stakes are higher than I have 2 friends and I miss them

    Rude.

I’ve never fucked up the multiverse by disrupting an incoherent spell clearly cobbled together last minute as an excuse to bring back old actors. I have, however, been melancholy about missing friends who I could simply be better at reconnecting with.

I think it's actually good the MCU step back from trying to make every film have a global or multiversal threat.

As Tim demonstrated, personal stakes can be more relatable to an audience, not to mention facilitating personal growth for the protagonist.

Spider-Man has to realize he doesn't have to miss his friends, he's just being a dum-dum.

Went back and watched the first trailer again and at the start Peter is watching a video of Ned saying it's their first semester at MIT. Destin Daniel Cretton released some official pages of the screenplay and at the bottom of page 3, it says Begin Montage after Peter says he maybe just needs to focus on being Spider-Man for a while. So it seems like we'll be getting a montage of crime fighting mixed in with Peter doom scrolling over Ned's posts about MIT as the years pass by. So you know...Peter Parker! He's just like us.
