I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Daredevil S1/S2/S3 really are the only ones that you should watch. Because of The Hand, but more importantly, it’s good. Also Jessica Jones S1 is up there. The rest is take it or leave it and DD:BA was below par, even if I liked it. Felt way more “plastic-y” than the other seasons, which I hope S2 corrects without the rewrites/change in creatives

If you must watch stuff to prepare for this movie, I suggest doing Lexi Alexander’s Punisher: War Zone and Ang Lee’s Hulk, the best adaptations that have been done thus far with their respective characters.

Does it make sense for someone to watch an interpretation of a character to prepare for a completely different interpretation of a character?

You can just recommend movies, Tim. You don't need to give them a false pretext.

Defenders has the Hand, too. I figured watching recaps of everything, but fully watching Defenders would give her a sense of all the characters.

Defenders would probably give decent context but I think just Daredevil S2 and Jessica Jones S1 tells you all you need to know in terms of the shows

Never got into The Punisher show

Why does my post have to be “false pretext” (or bait or whatever that gif is trying to suggest)?

I think there’s value in seeing these characters and concepts as tools for storytelling, and thinking about that angle instead of just “continuity” and “lore.” And, if one is to do that, then other takes that are from the concepts’ history but not this universe’s “canon” have just as much to offer, whether they “matter” in-universe or not.

If I rewatch anything in the lead-up, it’ll probably be those two movies. And, also Spider-Man 2 for being the last time a movie used powers acting up (albeit in the opposite direction) to reflect Peter’s mental/emotional space. Which, is another excuse to revisit Lee’s Hulk, which emphasized the mutation and rage as being tied to trauma.

I personally watched everything, but she just wasn’t feeling a lot of the Netflix stuff. So I just gave her the recaps so she has a little reference in case those characters show up in the future.

I'm giving you shit. I think you're genuinely giving a recommendation but that doesn't mean it's not still funny you're recommending films that wouldn't add context to this film in particular.

As for bait, I don't think it's any more bait than any of your other posts.

While I’m comparing this to other movies, I like the idea that this might be doing a bit of a Superman thing, where this larger world exists without having to build it all up.

Not really the same thing of course, since most of these main characters already existed in this world onscreen. But, like, it seems Spidey and Punisher already know each other when this starts? And baddies like Boomerang and Tarantula are just running about.

I’m so ready to just step into a Spider-Man-centered world that’s fully fleshed out and just have a fun adventure with everything that entails. I still hate the nonsensical way No Way Home ended, so this building off that is meh, but hey… some comics I love play off of status quos built by comics I hate. So, I’m sure I can handwave the mechanics & reasoning of that and enjoy what’s done with the situation.

I would argue (actually, I already did, lol) that it does add context. Just in a different way.

If I were merely trolling, I also would’ve suggested the Morbius credits scene. But, I didn’t want people to think I actually like that movie; I only like the fun Sony movies.

Thank goodness I brought up Ang Lee and Lexi Alexander before anyone could go too far into bringing up past Spider-Man franchises.

Imagine debating the pros and cons of Marc Webb’s films in 2026??? That’s so 2010s. Grow up and find a new discourse, like One Battle After Another and Sinners.

Shit, just noticed how many times I posted in a row just now. Haven’t even had my second cup of coffee yet.

It’s been a decade of chorus dot fm with me talking too much about Spider-Man. :spidey4:

Good to hear Keith David with the voice over towards the end. Had his casting been confirmed beforehand?

Mike Colter has all but confirmed he's coming back. The only one who's been mostly silent is Finn Jones.
