Yeah this is wonderful. Fire is pretty clearly my favorite after one listen. The Death Cab comparisons are obvious, he sounds just like Ben Gibbard lol
the closer is perfect, the outro is so beautifully done.. the "I can't do anything right" followed by the instrumental section is a huge album highlight for me.
Yeah, not that it hasn't already been said, but Fire is immediately one of the best songs of the year. I'll need to spend some more time with the full record, but my initial impression is very positive. This seems right up my alley.
"Perfect Song" gave me Modest Mouse vibes this is definitely going to be a grower. way different than i expected even after the death cab comparisons ("Your Bed" is the only song that sounds remotely similar to their old material) and there were definitely parts of this i enjoyed more than others. not bad by any means, just gonna need more time to unpack it.
this REALLY reminds me of Trans/Plans era DC. which i feel like i don’t compare things to that era as much as i do the earlier stuff
there's a fire in the house and we're burning all the wood that we cut from a tree that fell into the yard in the middle of the winter and we want to be a little bit warmer than we were last year
Yep I have abandoned making a proper list this year. Too much stuff I haven’t been able to give a proper listen to and outside of my 2-3 favorite releases of the year it’s impossible to try and order everything else.
Fire kind of reminds me of Transatlanticism (the song) both start soft then grow to have kind of an epic feel by the end plus they’re both perfect songs
I have trouble getting through the record I get to fire and then I just listen to it over and over and over again
this is probably going to be lower than i would have thought on my aoty list because it hasn't fully dug itself in yet and this year was pretty stacked anyways. will get a spot though
