To be honest, I don't love the Kevin Devine verse that much, but the song is so great that it doesn't even matter. He sounds good in backing vocals at the end.
Both these songs are incredible. Their transition into indie rock stalwarts is almost there. Just makes me more excited and confident into their future career
They're another one of these bands I love who are always so close to fucking off making music altogether, been on a breakup knife edge for so long. Just glad they're sticking around with a new record out next year.
Yeah, I very much remember Dylan said before No Joy that they were writing that album and then they weren't sure what they were gonna do after that or if they'd release anything ever again. Very glad that they have enough support and the will to carry on.
Now if they could just repress GSTB on vinyl I'd be set. Though I don't know if they've disowned that record and consider Schmaltz their debut now?
I don't think they've disavowed it - they were still playing "Concrete" at some shows this year. But I believe Dylan said it feels like it was made by a different band.
I don't know if it's a rights thing or, because of the above, they just haven't bothered to keep it in press like their other three records.
I love both of these, especially Cocaine and Lexapro. As much as I wish they would play more songs that sound like BFE, if this allows them to pay their bills and create great music, I literally won’t judge. No one is taking that album or Schmaltz away from me.
