Really love this after one listen through but I don't think it's going to unseat Suicide and Sunshine as my current AOTY like I thought it might.
I really like this, but it's still too hot and sunny here for this style of music. Can't wait to come back to it in October. It's going to make an excellent combo with Gaslight and The Menzingers.
Got my first listen in on the drive home from MO & Jimmy last night, in the rain. Road noise prevented me from really honing in one some of the carry-throughs and call backs, but I'm excited to sit with it again. My vinyl came today, too!
Definitely a grower for me compared to Schmaltz and BFE on first listen, but I dig it. It's more mellow...just need to get myself in the right mindset for it when I've been listening to a lot of grindcore and death metal recently. Hard to shift that headspace for it.
Yeah, this album is gonna be a grower for me I think. Not as immediate for me as the last two albums, but I'm digging it.
On my second listen (first time on proper speakers) right now. I agree with the sentiment of this being a grower versus the immediacy of BFE, and even Schmaltz. Aside from the first three pre-release singles (I didn't listen to "Marvel" until the album release), "I'm Gonna Miss Everything", "Rapture Chaser", "Here You Are", and "Re-Emerging Signs of the Apocalypse" were the immediate stand outs.
