ALBUM REVIEW: ‘Brave Faces Everyone’ by Spanish Love Songs "It might sound like an exaggeration, especially with how amazing music has come out of this scene in particular, but Brave Faces Everyone genuinely feels like the boldest culmination of this sound to date, bearing its brutal honestly and incredible ear for a melody in a way that never falters even once."
That's kind of how I felt about it on my first listen, but I wasn't paying close attention. Going to put it on shortly, however, and try to get into it.
Haven't heard this yet but no way could this be as good as Schmaltz, let alone better. You guys must be bullshitting.
I’m playing this at work which is not entirely appropriate but my colleague and a customer both asked who it was because they like it. Huh.
Absolutely adore “Beach Front Property” - reminds me a lot of the vibe of “It Must Get Lonely.” Can’t wait to finally see them live next month
I wrote this band off as copying the Menzingers a while back, but (and maybe it's just because I haven't been a fan of a Menz record since Rented World) I am really, really digging this new record. It sounds like Suburbia from TWY meets OTIP by Menz. Although not quite as good as either of those at first blush.
Has anyone heard the first album? If not, it’s really close to Schmaltz, but no one is talking about it, do yourself a favor! Picked up a copy of the new record yesterday at the show, sounds nothing but amazing
i could kind of understand it. personally i love their whole catelog but i could see how ppl who got into them early on might have lost interest by otip or rented world. most of the time a band i really like reinvents their sound like the menzingers have i kind of lose them but for me the menzingers are a rare case where i love all their shit so cant complain.
Giant is really catchy and fun and good but it’s nowhere near as good as Schmaltz or this. To continue the wonder years analogy, it’s their Upsides.
Some of us already have the vinyl pre-orders, so we've got the lyric sheet. I haven't seen them floating around online yet, though.
