Stoked to hear the next album will have positive vibes. After the last 2 years it could have been even more depressing than Brave Faces.
it is genuinely tough for me to listen to a lot of Brave faces because of how fucking down it gets me. I get it, i feel/felt a lot of it too, but man, I just cannot go out of the way to subject myself consistently to that level of misery lol
I loved the album when it came out, but I'm not sure I "enjoyed" BFE for a loooong time. Definitely understand why with how the world looked at the time and all the uncertainty. Love this album but it isn't in my rotation for that reason. It just gets me so down. I'm so glad it exists, though.
I was into it at first but then once COVID hit I just pulled it from daily/weekly rotation. I usually skipped Dolores also. I couldn't get through the Etc. version. It's even sadder without the loud guitars and upbeat tempo.
It's definitely bleak, but it's also so catchy and energetic. This is definitely the album I've listened to the most since it came out. Immediately became one of my favorite albums of all time.
The song they posted on Patreon that didn't make the next album is so so so good. Can't wait to hear what they actually recorded.
Forgot to post about this, but I got the re-imagined version of Beer and Nyquil with my schmaltz record. It is a very good version.
Are the reimagined songs for this new pressing of Schmaltz done in that synthy, acousticy manner similar to Brave Faces Etc.?
Sort of - I'd say they're more acoustic guitar than synth focused, except for "Bellyache" which is something totally wild and different. "Joana" is the real highlight in my opinion.
Seems like they've been working on the album for a pretty long time. Wondering what the hold up is...
Good cover and yeah they wrapped the album in August last year, so not sure what the hold up is outside the usual vinyl shenanigans. But given they're playing Slam Dunk maybe we get a single soon.
