"Generation Loss" is pretty much what I expected from the reimagined album, but this version of "Optimism" is really cool. I love that massive wave of noise in the bridge (and that moment in the video is really neat too).
Vinyl is up on the PN site: https://purenoise.merchnow.com/collections/spanish-love-songs/products/sls0bfetdc-lp And the band site: https://spanishlovesongs.merchnow.com Includes both the original album and the new version.
Brace Faces Everyone has been the one album that has really carried me through the pandemic (especially working in healthcare). I just preordered this deluxe version so damn fast even though I’m basically broke.
I just revisited this album over the weekend on a whim and forgot how much I like it. Might have to pick this up . . .
The etc. songs are cool. I also wish there was a vinyl version of just the etc. versions but I might buy it anyway just to support them.
Yeah he gave a pretty angry reminder during the set about wearing masks last night which was prior to that tweet. If I was an anti-masker it definitely would've triggered me. Overall Seattle crowds have been very good though, I only saw a handful of people who outright took off their mask.
Sounds like they were getting a little shit for the upcoming Etc. record. I honestly can't wait for it. I've been revisiting this album lately and it remains a top 5 for 2020 easily.
Imagine getting mad at a band you like for re-imagining some songs. I get people want new music (I do too), but they're just now getting to tour BFE after two years. It's not like it's been half a decade or more since they released an album. People are stupid and insanely entitled.
After a couple of listens, I'm not a fan of the reimagined songs at all. But I'm not going to disparage them for trying something different especially if it's just revised takes of old songs. It's just not for me.
