Well I am a paying subscriber and I'd probably welcome if they released the songs just so I could download them. You can no longer do that and have to listen only through Patreon.
Oof that sucks, didn't know you can't download anymore. In that case yeah a downloadable EP would be nice, even if just to the subscribers.
I'm not a Patreon member either, but haven't they already done a ton of exclusive stuff with their fans via Patreon like intimate zoom meetings & frequent live shows? Like, I can understand if the only thing they were doing was releasing cover songs for that group of people and then they turned around and gave everyone the opportunity, but it seems like they've done a lot of other/unique things that would ultimately make the monthly subscription still worthwhile and exclusive. Regardless, it's their band and they can do what they want.
Kevin Devine released some of his alt versions and covers from his Patreon via bandcamp. There is still some exclusivity there because it was only 10 songs of the 20+ he did on Patreon. William Ryan Key is releasing some of his Patreon songs as part of an EP too at some point. It’s up to band and how they want to manage things, but if you’re paying on Patreon or paying on bandcamp or something like that after a while (when it’s lets exclusive feeling) I think that seems fair and reasonable. The idea is to generate income for the band directly and bridge some of the gap between bands and fans.
I'm just happy there's a quality band out there nowadays where we can all coalesce around them and have relatively pointless but fun discussions about the semantics of how they deliver their music to people tbh. It's just nice to have these types of talks for me as a form of escapism at this point.
I am bummed that with the flurry of tour announcements the last week, SLS hasn't announced yet. I had a ticket to see them for my first time last May. Hoping to see them soon! My favorite new find of 2020.
Supposedly they were considering/looking into booking "outdoor stuff" for September. I expected them to pop up on Riot Fest, but that didn't happen... Listening to their podcast they seem pretty uncertain about playing shows indoors at the moment. So unless they pop up on a festival or two, I'm feeling like a proper tour won't happen until 2022.
When they did a free livestream back in February, Dylan seemed pretty adamant about not touring at all in 2021.
Yeah honestly a pretty big turn off, I understand doing it so people can't share but every other patreon I'm subscribed to you can download and it's nice having a collection of the songs in my Itunes And now it's even worse since I have half of them downloaded and it just feels incomplete haha
I think they’re just being careful with licensing for the covers. Everything else is downloadable from a link in the Discord. I’ve been using Audio Hijack to rip the covers from the streams so I have them all.
Just had a little cry to the title track once again because feeling really down recently has gotten the best of me this morning. This record is incredible and has for sure gotten me through this past year.
tour announcements are getting out of control, but this is one I wouldn't hesitate to jump on. hope it is a BFE album show
I’m kind of surprised they aren’t touring this year. I honestly get it for bigger artists like Billie, Lorde, Justin Bieber, MCR, etc. who all are touring in 2022 but smaller artists don’t have the money to hold off on touring so this is a surprising move for me. Plus I would love to see them live this year.
I think it’s more that the band all lives in different parts of the US currently and hasn’t played together for a long time. I know Dillan and Meredith live in Nashville while I think the rest of the band is across the country. For a smaller band it’s going to take more time to get back in the swing of things when they are so scattered.
