I wonder how much the Internet has exacerbated the tribalism and forcing people to pick sides. The lack of it definitely helped Jordan’s image.
Didn't Michael Jordan make basketball much more popular? I was too young to know at the time but he felt like more of a unifying figure. You couldn't do the same type of movie with football. Tom Brady has all the championships but pretty much every football fan outside of Tampa and New England hates him.
I can’t wait until we have that one person who gets all the game stats and we have basketball Twitter saying Michael better since he scored more points
The ‘92 Olympics team - which Jordan was on at the peak of his career - is pretty directly credited with making pro basketball blow up internationally, if that’s what you’re referring to. Besides that, idk if “unifying” is the right word but he was pretty clearly the undisputed #1 star of the league during the 90s. Like he had very intense rivalries with other players and was competitive to an unhealthy degree, but there wasn’t really anything on par with like the Magic Johnson/Larry Bird rivalry, where there was someone who checked him just as much as he checked them
Just finished. This isn’t really any better or worse than the first one. Ton of fun/weird cameos. It’s a kids movie with some background cameos for adults. The internet discourse acting like this is terrible and the first is a gem is… odd. LeBron > MJ, tho.
The first one is great because it has the line “imma eat me a good meal tonight” which me and my brother say constantly.
and Danny Devito saying I didn't know Dan Aykyroyd was in this picture when Bill Murray shows up I didn't know Dan Ackroyd was in this picture!
It’s definitely a kids movie. But as mentioned, what kid cares about the Looney Tunes and/or LeBron (they probably do care about LeBron)? As an adult, this is just mediocre. It’s an HBO Max commercial and LeBron worship montage. LeBron comes off as super stiff, especially after being so funny in “Trainwreck.” God bless Cheadle for his commitment. He carries it solely on his back.
I think it’s a good way for kids to be introduced to Looney Tunes. I’m sure that was the same for the first as well
