Yeah I guess I just wonder what a little kid would take away from it since they're the target audience haha

The entire final sequence starting from Ego’s review. There’s something about Remy succeeding and overlooking Paris with the music and Ego’s thoughts that just get me
Yeah it walks a thin line, but apart from just like explicitly saying out loud what the message was I dunno how else the movie was supposed to get it across without cranking up the runtime too much. I think one of the best scenes in this regard is the one where they visit Joe’s “trophy room” or whatever where we see highlights of his life and get an actual visualization of how little joy he extracted from anything else in his life because the only thing he cared about was becoming a professional musician
Monsters U was perfectly fine haha Coco is, as mentioned previously, waaayy too low on some of these lists.
I think because the themes and elements of college it included brought me back to my own college experience, which I’m very fond of, is why I connected with MU so much
Anyway back to Soul lol In this weak movie year, this would be a great choice for a best pic nom since its been like 10 years since the last time they let an animated film into the best picture race
