Oh damn, they didn’t deliver the 4K on Roku? That’s some spite.

  2. Yeah I agree with this. It didn’t like ruin the movie or anything, clearly it still gets its point across one way or the other. It was more just that it felt kinda jarring to me after such an emotionally intense third act. But the second part of your post is definitely the right question to sum up the discussion that I’m sure a looooot of people will be having after seeing this

scene where Joe was playing the piano after getting back to earth in order to get into the zone still had me pretty weepy not gonna lie

Yeah they delivered it to some Roku TVs and only one model of the Roku Ultra >_>. My Ultra is last year's model and I guarantee it's more powerful than most of those TVs but oh well lol

I said this right after I watched it today as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t a huge hit with kids, but the message of the movie was totally relatable for adults.

Overall, I loved the movie. Beforehand, I thought the movie was going to be a bit more about music itself, but I was pleasantly surprised with the way it went.

This sort of felt like inside out for adults (in the regard that inside out dealt mostly with adolescence, even if the message was relatable for all ages). Really enjoyed this.

I do recall getting HDR on my TCL TV so I guess I got the 4K version.

also could not help but think that the guy chasing them around (terry?) - his outline looked just like the cheat from homestar runner lol

Wow this was so good, I'm so happy to have watched this. Also, the art itself is beautiful.

  12. Yeah aside from the really gorgeous choices made for everything in the Great Before, even just the animation on earth felt next level. The scene with with Joe’s student playing trombone in the stairwell looked insane

Loved every bit of this. Probably immediately in my top 5 Pixar at least.

You ever ride Snow White's Scary Adventures? Soul's ending seemed like a generation compared to how the Imagineers ended that ride.

  16. Excited to finally watch this! Especially since it’s getting a lot of praise

Also excited to watch this and happy it's getting love but kind of makes me worry that this will sweep any animation awards and Wolfwalkers will be completely overlooked.

Not that I really give a shit about awards, but people should really check out Wolfwalkers.

    Wolfwalkers ruuuules. Beautiful film.

But like, Soul was incredible. Probably my film of the year at this point tbh. Even though I personally connected more with Soul, it would be so cool if Cartoon Saloon can just take the animation oscar this year for once. Pixar (and Pete Doctor!) have plenty to go around.

I definitely think this might be my favorite Pixar film. Struggling to find something I enjoyed more. It feels crazy to say that when movies like Toy Story, Up, Monsters Inc, and Big Hero 6 exist

    Edit

Just realized Big Hero 6 isn't Pixar. Wild.

This would probably be in the 5-10 range for me. There are definitely some titles I prefer (Coco, Ratatouille, Inside Out, Toy Story 3 come to mind) but it’s still lovely.

  21. Soul is tops for me, I think. I’ve got a soft spot for Nemo, but otherwise Inside Out is probably the closest to it. Haven’t seen Coco though and I know that’s a big fav

Coco might be my recent favorite, but Inside Out, TS1, Monsters Inc, and even Nemo are pretty untouchable.

Yeah the ending was incredibly abrupt.

Otherwise I thought it was great.

Paced so fucking quickly. Couldn’t believe how little it let moments breathe, Pixar and Docter in particular is usually great about that.

Felt like Pixarified Don Hertzfeldt lite

This was wonderful and managed to come out in the perfect year for the message and feels. And the music. Oh the music.
