getting that weird feeling like.. this is my most anticipated record announced so far this year so once I hit play thats it won't get to hear it for the first time again ha
back half of the record may be stronger than the first half. god damn what a record. the song writing is phenomenal. There is a laziness in the vocal delivery that I really love, and there are some lyrics where you are like oh okay this isn't that serious and then you get hit over the head with a one liner and you are knocked the fuck out again.
Just gave it a full listen (didn't listen to any of the previously released songs). Album has a lot going on. No Halo, A Portrait Of (always going to lose it over a 59' Sound reference), Disappeared, and Car are my immediate favorites.
Stunning album, Second Letter from St Julien is incredible and love the intentional or not throwback to Fluorescent Black. The build up is immense. Went into this expecting stuff like No Halo (which is an absolutely incredible opener) but glad that it isn't and has such variation
I was a little worried because I wasn't a huge fan of Disappeared, but I just finished my first full listen and that closer is exactly what I needed to be fully on board with this album.
I went home for lunch today to see if I could catch the mailman - waited around for a half-hour with no luck. Go figure, as I drive back to work, I see the mailman pulling into my neighborhood. Checked my e-mail, it was delivered at 12:20 p.m. So jealous of everyone listening to this right now.
Eh, I think I'll hold out until tomorrow morning. Glad the initial reaction seems to be very positive, though!
I've also come to the decision that when I talk to people about this album IRL that I'll just call it " You're not As Alone As You Think." I stumble over my words every time I try to say it without the alone in there haha.
pretty sure its pronounced "you're not as underscore underscore underscore underscore undercore as you think"
Not that they probably care about this, but marketing-wise, the album title (with the blank in it) does not do them any favors across social media. Think about how many people post album or song photos on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. with the album title hashtagged. I just searched 'Yourenotasasyouthink' on Instagram and there was only 3 posts. I don't know, obviously the more people hashtag an album, the more exposure the album could get.
As much as I love No Halo, I really wish A Portrait Of was the opener. "I've been feeling suicidal" would be such a bold opening line.
So I got home and opened up the vinyl to grab the digital download to import into my iTunes to transfer to my iPod (yeah, I'm old school) and iTunes didn't recognize artist, album name or album art so I had to manually type it all in. Weird.
That is weird bc it's def set up to be on Apple Music and iTunes.. also you would think the download code files would have that info anyway
Yeah, if you search for it in the iTunes Store, it's there. The download files had names but when I brought it into iTunes, it showed the names with "unknown artist" and "unknown album" so I had to manually type that all in. The download folder name didn't even say Sorority Noise. Or have album title anywhere. Normally iTunes recognizes everything.
