It's Sonic Youth season! That's the only thing I have listen to for the last week

Cool write up and ya I agree with all the album blurbs (except Bad Moon Rising is better than he says). And he probably got my top 5 right although the wrong order

Mostly just happy that the Youth are getting some attention in advance of this comp coming out tho

Starting to get into this band more because of reading through this thread. A friend sent me this track and holy shit it's been in constant rotation for me the past couple weeks.

 

Just bought A Thousand Leaves at the record store on a whim mostly because of Sunday. What's it like? Any standouts?

 

French Tickler and Hits of Sunshine are my favourite on that one. I like the overall sound of the album but it's far from their best work.

 

Hoarfrost is a top tier latter-day Lee song. Overall I’d say it’s noodly to a fault though lol, not my favorite of theirs (still mostly very good tho)

 

The best thing I can say about A Thousand Leaves is that I think Murray Street is a more-focused version of the direction they took with that one, and I’m not sure one would exist without the other. So I’m grateful for that because Murray Street is as good as it gets

 

Every now and then I fall into a Sonic Youth Loophole. I think it's happening again. Been pulled in with Washing Machine and moved on to Murray Street. I forgot how good that last one is
